Question about 1991 Acura Legend
My acura wll turn over but won't start after it's been sitting on a hot day. I have changed the fuel filter and on 6/24/2008 changed out the fuel pump. started up good until yesterday the temp was around 96 here in Virginia when I went out to drive it would not start and still won't this morning. Coulld the starter be going out
Typical Honda/Acura problem is the main system relay when temp is a factor

I agree with solution 2. I had a 1997 Accord that on hot days would not start. I could open the hood and let everything cooland then it would start right up. I changed out the main relay and had no more problems after that. Strange thing is that the relay was located inside the car under the steering wheel so I can't understand how opening the hood helped it to start.

Have the points on the FCU (fan control unit) re-soldered. This simple fix cost me $20 at a TV repair shop!! The unit is located in the passenger floor board under the carpet. You need a socket set to remove the panel the unplug the FCU. Take it to an electronics repair shop and ask the ate points get re-soldered.

When it's hot, I usually just hit the left side of the dash and it works.

This is one of the service bulletins that came out in December of 1995
To all Acura Models
Bulletin No. ASN 1295-02
Complaints of "intermittently cranks but Won't Start " can usually be corrected by opening the throttle while cranking. This little-known tip can be found in, of all places, the owner's manual.
The starting the Engine Section in our current O/Ms says, "If the engine does not start within 15 seconds, or starts but stalls right away, turn the ignition key to the START position for 15 seconds with the accelerator pedal pressed half-way down. If the engine still does not start, press the accelerator pedal the way down and hold it there while starting in order to clear flooding.
If the symptom persists with the throttle open, then follow normal diagnostic procedures.

The recommended change interval for the fuel filter on all models is 60,000 miles under normal service. Severe service will require more frequent changing of the fuel filter.
The filter is located in the passengers side of the engine compartment.
CAUTION Before disconnecting any fuel lines, be sure to open the gas tank filler cap to relieve any pressure in the system and wrap a shop towel around the fuel line fitting before opening. Observe all fuel handling precautions.
