1998 toyota heating problem

Hi,

i change thermostat, hoses ,water pump, cooling sensor, radiator sensor , fan, but still heating , i dont know what is the problem , please help me ,

2007 nissan exterra overheats


Hi Kim,

I can feel your frustration. It sounds like you've done all the logical stuff already. The "donut hole" in your process would seem to be not changing the water pump. The water pump as you might imagine, is responsible for circulating (pumping) the relatively cool water in the radiator into the running engine that contains the hot water. Hoses connect the two together. A thermostat is between the radiator and the engine. Once the water in the running engine gets to a certain temperature, the thermostat opens allowing the water pump to send cool water into the engine and hot water out to the radiator to be cooled. The heater core is usually on the passenger side firewall area.

It sounds like the water pump is the only thing left to change - if it isn't working - it can't circulate the water - and will result in overheating. Lastly, a clogged heater core shouldn't cause the engine to overheat - in fact, if the engine begins to overheat, you should turn the heat to HIGH fan and HIGH temperature to help remove some of the heat in the coolant.

1998 Cadillac Seville SLS with overheating problem. Head gaskets repaired!! cost me 4K, all hoses checked and look good, belts replaced etc etc. Still overheats!! The cooling system (heating/AC) is acting...


did you change your thermostats there is one on the motor and on radiator. i have a toyota and was told my motor was shot it was overheating and loosing coolant my prob was water pump and the radiator filler pipe had a pin hole in it. if you do not have water in your oil or oil in the rad then it is probabnly not the head . also if the fin on your radiator are bent you may need too change radiator..Also your radiator fan may not be working, you can hook direct or buy a new fan relay sensor that plugs in at the bottom of raiator, you can check this by getting motor hot and see if fan kicks on

My 99 alero v6 is over heating not leaking ight mite be hoses or thermostat . or head gasket but when it overb heats the smoke comes from the top of the engine


REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF CAR OVER HEATING WHILE IN MOTION.MORE LIKELY ITS THE THERMOSTAT,LOW COOLANT IN RADIATOR OR COOLANT SYSTEM,BAD WATER PUMP,WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE IS LEAKING, WATER PUMP NEEDS REPLACING.CHECK ENGINE OIL,IF OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE YOU HAVE LEAKING HEAD GASKET.IF CAR IN PARK AND OVER HEATS WHILE IN A LONG TRAFFIC LINE OR.BANK DRIVE THROUGH COOLANT FAN NOT TURNING ON, BECAUSE THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULTY.CODE SCAN CAR FOR FAULTY COOLANT FAN RELAY OR FAULTY PCM. CHECK COOLANT FAN FUSE, AND HOT WIRE THE COOLANT FAN TO MAKE SURE ITS WORKING.IF COOLANT FAN DONT WORK WHEN HOT WIRED. COOLANT FAN NEEDS REPLACING. Hi i just brought a buick century 1998 and well is overheating and i dont know what it could be?


It could be many things. Low coolant, fault thermostat, a blockage in the system, worn or broken water pump impeller, slipping belt on water pump pulley, the cooling fans may not be operating (this could be a faulty temp sensor, fuse, relay, wiring or the fan motor itself).

Over heating


Thermostats in cars are often neglected, if not totally forgotten, units. Yet they play an important role in the general performance of cars by restricting water flow until the engine has warmed-up. Thermostats are heat sensitive valves that open and close. On cars they prevent circulation of coolant to the radiator until the engine is warm enough. When the thermostat is closed water only flows through the water pump and water jacket to let the engine warm quickly. When the thermostat opens, water can then pass through the radiator for general cooling.

Be sure you have the correct cap on your radiator and it is not rusted. Thermostats are small, inexpensive items. You can test them by heating in water and checking their operating temperature with a thermometer. However it really is quicker and ultimately more reliable to simply fit a new one,
1. thermostat common problems (replace every 50-60k miles)
2. thermostat switch sensor (which turn your cooling fan on and off)
3. check and see if the cooling fans is running when the engine get to its operation temperature. (fan motor can be fault)

Hi,i,m a guest here .i have overheating problem with my toyota camery 92 v6...i got that my fan isn't working well , i changed it & the fan got better,,but it's not fixed yet & still i have...


How about the thermostat?

If your getting heat out the vents, the coolant is full, the upper hose is hot and the lower hose is cold that the t'stat is not opening.

If both the hoses are hot, the coolant is full, and you feel the fan pushing hot air than check the front of the radiator for debris build up. If there is no debris than the radiator could be plugged internally or the cooling fins may be severely rotted.

If the coolant is full, there is no heat out the vents and the upper hose is hot/lower hose is cold the water pump is not circulating enough coolant.

Car is over heating


Check for coolant leaks, usually a bad water pump will have a steady drip from the bottom of the pump.
Also check and make sure the radiator cooling fan is working.
If you find no leaks and the fan is turning the problem will probably be the thermostat.

98 Celica overheating problem

Look along the radiator hose where it enters the engine. This controls the water temperature.

The 3 wire switch has a dual sensor for dual speed radiator fans. The Toyota Celica thermo fan switches come in the factory temperature settings and also come in cooler thermostatic settings so the fan will come on at a lower coolant temp.

The Toyota Celica cooling system is made of aluminum components and requires a Phosphate free coolant. DO NOT PUT an over the counter antifreeze in your Toyota Celica, as it will ruin the radiator and water pump.

your fans need replacing try hooking them up straight to battery to check if they spin fast its not the fans but the wiring.
