Question about 2000 Ford Windstar

No brake lights

A friend following me home last night said that I do not have brake lights.  I know nothing about cars and am currently unemployed, therefore can't afford a repair bill.  She said it may be a fuse.  Where are the fuses located and how can I tell if one is not working?

It mybe a ligth bulb out, in the rear of your car you should have a access panel to rear lights, open panel and remove bulbs. most auto parts store will assist you with this. hope this helps.

Does not seem that there is any electrical current. Checked all the fuses, they are fine. It doesn't seem like a battery problem as there is absolutely no current. Drove it last night everything worked. ...

Is the battery dead? Your alternator may be bad. If you drove it last night you may have driven on battery power and not realized it. You should have gotten some kind of warning message. Need to know if the battery is dead.

Brake lights do not extinguish when engine is stopped

Removing the dash was way overkill for that problem. its a 5 minute or less job to fix that. Ck the stopper for the brake switch or adjustment.

You must have ripped the wires off underneath your truck, and you probably don't have brake lights anymore either. Better get somebody to repair it as soon as you can.

Where is the Alternator located in a 1997 Lexus LS 400

If the car ran and got you home after a jump start I doubt the alternator is bad. Check your battery. And remember never ever disconnect the battery cable with the engine running.
