there should be a platen on the bottom of the motor on the driver side in front of where the transmission bolts on. It looks like it is a plate sticking off of the motor casting itself. Hope this helps.

Is it possible you got bad gas, check for vacum leaks in engine compartment,ifyou have one you should be able to hear it with the engine running,Note with a Turbo if the engine has a misfire this could cause damage to your Turbo very expenceive .take care of it asap.
the repair manual is hard to find, now check the quality of engine oil , maybe need to replace and oil filter, try to use an high grade oil, for example, if now is using 5w_20 then use 10w_40
