Require instructions to replace front rotor on 1998 4x4 2500 Sierra pickup

I have the rotor loose however, there is a plate in front of the rotor that the studs go through (it may be part of the hub). It is slightly taller than the rotor which prevents the rotoer from sliding off the hub. How do I get past that plate?

After removing the wheel &caliper depending on rust build up you may need to hit the rotor between the wheel studs this may take some time after removal check for rust build up on hub remove rust with hammer, sanding&scraping put some anti seize lube around hub making sure no rust is caught in between depending if you are replacing the pads you have to push the caliper piston back with a large pair of chanel lock pliers or suitable tool, then you can reassemble.thanx from schleck

How to remove front brake rotor

Is this 4wd or 2wd? The 4wd will just require the removal of the caliper it has a full floating rotor. If you are replacing the rotor and the rotor is stuck on you can use a ball peen hammer and hit the face of the rotor but only do this if replacing it and be sure to wear eye protection.

The 2wd will require you to remove the caliper then the centercap in the middle of the rotor. There you will see a cotterpin that needs removed.Once cotterpin is removed there will be a nut that needs to be unthreaded.Once the nut is removed the rotor will slide right off.

How do you install a DISC BRAKE HARDWARE KIT in 1980 toyota pickup ''front disc brake''

remove all connection bolts , clips. I then slowly pry the brakes as far from the rotor as posible ( depressing the brake cylinder) with tire tool or large screw driver, so the new thicker pads will go in with ease. Replace new pads acording to toyota and replace bolts/ clips. this method requires no bleeding of brakes.

Do you need to take the axles out to access the brakes on a 1998 GMC sierra 2500

No you don't. All you need to do if you have disc brakes is take the wheel off and then take the two bolts off holding the brake caliper on, and you have it off, thn you can replace the brake pads compress the piston on the caliper, put it back on the rotor, put the wheel back on and your done. Check the rotors out to see if they are smooth and not too much of a lip on the outside of the rotors. If they are too rough, the you replace them by taking too more additional bolts that hold the bracket the brake caliper bolts two(2 more bolts) and then tap the rotor loose with a hammer, replace.

I have replaced the front disc brakes on quite a few vehicles and just replacing the pads when you know what you're doing will take you 30 minutes tops. Add another 10-15 minutes if you replace the rotors.

Good luck
