Question about 2006 Isuzu Ascender

Oil gauge high

My oil pressure gauge is drifting past the middle point. It's not time for an oil change, but what could be causing the needle to go this way? Someone told me that I may need antifreeze, but I don't know.

The pressure will depend on the temp. of the engine, and the RPM's. Just make sure you have the correct amount of oil in your engine. I wouldn't worry about the pressure until it gets too low, then your almost out of oil. Mine currently stays above mid-point as well.

96 Chevy blazer how do I get out of safe mode ran low on oil now runs an drives but won't let car go fast past 2000rpms

The computing system on your vehicle has no safe mode for running low on oil . The only thing that will happen is the check gauges light will come on.
The oil pressure gauge is an analog device that is located in the IPC. The oil pressure gauge is operated directly by the oil pressure sensor circuit. As the engine oil pressure changes, the resistance of the sensor and the current flow in the oil pressure gauge changes. The current flow in the oil pressure gauge causes the needle to move in order to appropriately display the engine oil pressure. A sensor resistance of 1ohms will display as 0 kPa (0 PSI) and a resistance of 88 ohms will display as 80 kPa (80 PSI ). The IPC also monitors the oil pressure sensor circuit and interprets the current flow in this circuit in order to determine when the engine oil pressure is too low. If the oil pressure is too low, the check gauges tell tale will turn on. The oil pressure sender is located on the left side of the 2.2L. The 4.3L engine, oil pressure sender is located at the top left side, near the distributor/high voltage switch.
Try disconnecting the battery cables an hold them together for ten minutes , reset ECM !

I've had sender replace and all points between there and oil gauge verified OK and all the stepper motors on instrument cluster replaced but still get fluctuating oil pressure needle and warning s

If you check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge and the pressure is steady, the problem would be in the gauge on the dash if you have replaced the sending unit and there are no problems with the circuit.
The mechanical gauge could verify a problem with the actual pressure in the engine.

Oil pressure gauge is ready zero in 2003 2500hd 8.1 liter

Hello, this problem is due to a failing stepper motor. The stepper motor is the motor behind the gauge that controls the movement of the needle. When a stepper motor begins to go out it will cause the gauge needle to stick, skip around, stay at zero or max out on the gauge. The only way to fix the problem is to replace the stepper motor with a new one. While replacing one motor it is best to go ahead and replace them all as the others will go out in time as well. Your cluster will have one motor for each gauge. Here's a link to a page showing exactly how to replace a GM stepper motor and where to get the correct parts to do the job! Oil gauge on 91 Dodge Dakota suddenly running very high but plenty of oil

have a mechanic test the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge
it is more than likely that the electric sender unit has failed and is sticking internally
the tic noise could be a relay working from an intermittent power supply or bad ground

The oil pressure gauge on my '93 E150 just started going from below normal to normal pressure erratically. What is the most probable cause?

If there is an erratic movement like that, it would seem that your sender wire is loose or damaged, or your sender is bad. Normally pressure fluctuations will not be fast enough to produce the readings you describe.
These gauges are not really what can be called gauges anyway, as I found out in my 93 F250. They just take a reading at the sender, and if it is within a range anywhere within normal specs, which run something like 4LB to 80LB, the gauge will just stay in the middle of the normal range. What I heard was that there were too many customer complaints about the needle moving all the time, so they replaced it with one that would stay right in the middle which would be acceptable to most all drivers.

What should it be for a gmc sierra 1500 5.3 liter oil presssure

If you are using the gauge that came with the vehicle it's accuracy is not great. These gauges were designed so that at a glance you can see the needle is pointing basically to the middle of the dial. As long as the needle is more od less there, you're okay but the numbers mean nothing due to the gauges in accuracy. If you really want to check the oil pressure, the procedure is pretty easy but requires decent equipment as well as the knowledge of where to tap into the pressurized oil system.

The guage may rise a little when you accelerate the vehicle...but if it is pegged high, and does not fluctuate, when you turn your ignition key on an off...Your oil pressure switch maybe going bad...Goodluck

2001 ranger 4.0l oil pressure sender location? the oil gauge needle has somehow went past the high level and now sits below the low level pin.

the sender should be near the filter., but if the needle is that far off, your problem is in the instrument cluster.

1997 Ford Taurus oil pressure light comes on only when rpm's drop below 700. Have change the oil pressure switch but still happens.

Worn oil pump or cam brgs. Noticed the oil change, what about the oil filter? The oil filter has a bypass in it that will allow unfiltered oil to get past the oil filter if it plugs up. What is your mileage now and how was your maintenance habits? Good Luck. Remember, your cam brgs are the first point of resistance that control your oil pressure, not your rods or mains
