Question about 1988 Ford Ranger
I am trying to install a new radio in the truck, only problem is i do now know what wires go to what since I do not have my owners manual. Can any one help???
I would look at the back of radio and see how many connector are there, usually the colors with red and black together and solid red are for the speakers, and then look for solid wire color usually are for the power 12v. is hard to get a proper connector for a particular car, you have to connected individually.......

Older ford radio wiring.
It's abit easier if you have the original connectors but here's the colors.
bla-wh RR -
dk grn-org RF-
wh-lt grn RF+
pnk-lt grn LR+
lt blu-wht LF-
org-lt grn LF+
blk-lt grn Ground (Sometimes red thicker gauge wire check with testlight if you find this)
yel-blk +12v ignition
lt grn-yel +12v batt (constant 12v)
You can 'pop test' the speakers with a 9v or less battery just strike the wires against the battery for a split second (never! leave the battery connected for more than the pop noise!). This will tell you that you have the correct speaker but won't tell you phase unless you can see the speaker.

If your truck still has the wire connectors for the radio harness then your best bet would be to purchase the plug in adapters from wal-mart or local stereo shop,it should only cost about 10-15 bucks and would clarify your connectivity issues.or get a test light and at least determine power & ground wires then run new speaker wire
