2001 Ford Mustang won't start

The battery seems to be OK but the only thing we hear is click click click. I believe it is the starter - it still the original one -. What should we buy, where and where can we find instructions to replace it ourselves.>

FIRST check the connections to the battery to make sure they are CLEAN and TIGHT.. once that is certain then you are correct and need a starter.. they are very hard to replace unless you have a lift, not much room under there if laying on the ground...

have you crossed the solenoid terminals and checked the starter for operation? may have the battery cable burnt thru to ground by the exhaust side of the motor..it happens if the cable is up against the block..

01 mustang gt cranks once

Sounds to me that your starter is gone. There is one thing you can do, try tapping ya starter and then try starting the car. If it starts then you have what is called a dead spot in ya starter. The only fix for this is a new starter. Make sure that you dont have a bad wire going to your starter also. Hope this helps.

The car won't start; lights, ac, radio etc come on but car won't turn over or even click; checked battery cables; put different battery in; still won't start

Check the starter and the starter relay or fuse. A client of mines car was doing the same thing, it ended up being two issues, the starter not working anymore, and a relay that was bad. If I am not mistaken everything should be labeled in the fuse box under the hood and will tell you where the fuse/ relay is for your vehicle

My 2001 Ford Mustang would not start this morning. The battery is good but when I turn the key their is just a click sound by the starter motor. It is in a garage but the weather is rainy outside.

IT COULD BE THE STARTER NOT ENGAGING YOU CAN TAKE IT OUT AND BRING IT TO AUTO ZONE AND MOST LOCATIONS WILL TEST IT FOR FREE AND HOW DO YOU KNOW THE BATTERY IS GOOD DID YOU TEST IT IF NOT IT COULD BE THE BATTERIE OR THE ALTERNATOR AS IT WILL CLICK WHEN THEIER IS NOT ENOOUGH POWER TO TURN THE CAR OVER IT MAY HAVE STARTED YESTERDAY WITH NO PROBLEM BUT ALTERNATORS CAN JUST GO AND WHEN YOU GO TO STRT IT NOTHING TRY TO JUMP IT WITH CABLES IF STARTS BUT ONLY GOES SO FAR IT PROBLY THE ALT IF STARTS AND DRIVES FINE TILL YOU SHUT IT OFF PROBLY THE BATT MY 2002 MUSTANG GT LOST THE ALTERNATOR AND IT LEFT ME JUST CLICKING TO

2001 Mustang will not start. Most excesories work but engine will not crank. When key is twisted to start position all it does is click.

Check the battery terminals for lose connections.
Check the starter motor, it could be the solenoid switch.

Starter on a 2001 Taurus

1. Do you hear a clicking when you turn the key trying to start the vehicle? If so, then it is usually the starter solanoid.

If not...

2. Do you have power? Turn on headlights and try starting the vehicle. Do the lights dim? This will indicate a battery problem. If the lights do not dim, this indicates a strong battery.

3. Is the engine turning over but will not fire up. If so, do you have gasoline? Check for spark will be the next thing to check.

Good luck.
