Question about 2003 Ford Windstar
I changed my ac compressor and clutch because the bearing was shot on the clutch. We need to have the system charged. My question is, can I flush the coolant system somehow before I reconnect the tubes to the compressor and before I take it to be charged. I keep hearing about the "orifice tube" and a" dryer canister" being changed too. I really would like to flush the system somehow and just take it to be charged. Thanks for your time, Matt

I believe the orifice tube on this model requires the a/c pipe to be cut to install a new tube. You need to discharge the system, replace the tube, then evacuate miosture with a vacuum pump, then recharge with R134A refirgerant. Not a job for a non technical person.
The oriifce is in the line just before the evaporator that is in your car a/c heater case. It is where the liquid refrigerant turns into a vapor as it comes out of the orifice and then it absorbs heat from the air going into you car, thus blowing cold air. Moisutre in the warm air condenses and as he iar gets cold and it drains out of your evaporator and out the drain & onto the ground

There is one orifice tube for the font air. It is located in the a/c line coming from the condenser to the evap. core. the rear a/c has and expansion valve attached to the rear evap. core. Hope this helps.

ORIFICE TUBE IS IN SMALL REFRIGERANT LINE GOING INTO FIREWALL YOU WILL SEE LARGER REFRIGERANT LINE ABOVE SMALL REFRIGERANT LINE.USE NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS TO REMOVE ORIFICE TUBE.
