Question about 1994 Suzuki Swift
After rain when I start the car it works fine for few minutes then engine shutsoff and I feel as if engine has got moisture or water inside it. When I try to start it again I get success after several attempts. what is the cause of this problem? How can I fix this? Before my car used to function properly. I have had this car for two years but this problem started recenlty.
Assuming that rain solely causes the problem :
Air intake & Ignition/coil/spark system would be the primary victims to water contact or ingestion.. and both could be resolved by continous starting attempts.
Have you modified either of them recently??? :)
Where Does the Air to the carburettor come from ???
Is it close to the outside of car(near radiator via oval plastic pipe)
or above the motor via a standard metal one ??
I'd try to simulate the symptoms to find the cause. gently hose vertically like rain focusing mainly on front window + bonnet areas untill you feel its wet enough to have problems going.
Open the bonnet and look for any unwanted water or leakage.
If your car has the first method of air intake mentioned above, is it totally free of water.?
Also inspect the firewall (Rear wall of engine bay) maybe the plenium chamber is leaking water from the wiper grille area into/onto your ignition coil or spark system.....Via rust or a hole or somthing like that..
Hope to help you further if requested :)
