RADIO NOT WORKING

Wife left lights on car while I was away. I placed my battery charger on it for a few hours and car started no problem, everything works except for the radio its dead, the manual indicates that the trunk and int. lights are on the same fuse and they work. How do I get the radio working?

Your car has a poorly designed dashboard without sufficient ventilation for stereos. You could try to modify the aperture a bit.

Every couple of weeks, the battery appears dead, no power anywhere. Can't jump it, solenoid just makes a rattling sound. If I go away for an hour or two, everything is fine, car starts right up.

Very odd behaviour!

Take the battery leads off and clean the terminals with a wire brush. Clean the inside of the other connector with sandpaper. Coat with Vaseline or spray with WD40. Charge battery with a battery charger for 12 hours. If that doesn't fix it, you are looking for a short in the door switch perhaps? Is there a fuse box down by the drivers knees, check for loose or damaged fuses.

Nice old classic car, take care of it.

No crank, no click, no lights, no start

Sounds like the cable connections at the battery are not clean and tight, or a problem with power to the starter post, or the negative connection. The cig lighter is on a circuit of its own. Most everything else goes thru the key switch. The headlights are on a direct circuit too. But everything has to go thru the main battery cables.

It may take longer depending on the battery and the charger amperage. Here is a chart that gives you approximate charge times.

I'd thoroughly clean and check battery connections, especially grounds and check the other ends of the battery cables, where they connect to the starter and the engine ground.

I just bought a 2008 BMW 535i and the battery has already drained twice. The first time the battery drained in my driveway and another time it happened 1 hour away from home, leaving my wife stranded late...

The original equipment battery on this car is weak. I had to put a trickle charger on the battery for my 2008 BMW 535i to keep it charged. Your other option is to buy an aftermarket battery that is tougher than the original and costs less (about $110 versus $435).

Have the battery and alternator checked by a mechanic or auto parts store. As it is, it would seem your battery needs to be replaced, but if your alternator is bad then your battery may be good and you would just need to replace the alternator and charge the battery.

Engine will not start/adio does not work but int/ext lights ok

this is most likely the battery protection relay, this is part of the lighting control module (LCM/GEM), your dealer can test test it but the issue may have been related to the cold, this module controls almost everything except the engine and trans.
