Can you change the engine code by replacing ECU unit. I have an AFB engine and have not been able to find a replacement but I have seen plenty of other engine codes so it would be helpful if you could somehow change something (ECU unit) to accept another engine code. Can anyone help? Thanks

Re: Audi 2.5 tdi Quattro Avant
I don't think this is possible. Your AFB engine requires an AFB-compatible ECU. The AFB code is specific to that engine design due to parameters of the engine itself. My 99 A4 has the AHA V6 30v engine, which can only be controlled by an AHA ECU. Changing the ECU does not change the engine itself, and trying to use an ECU from a different engine code will not work. If you want to use a different engine, you'd need that new engine's ECU, engine bay harness, accessories and mounts, and possibly even the chassis harness from the donor car. It'd be a tremendous amount of work.

The lite is there to warn you that there is something wrong, could be low oil level, check the oil level, could be that the sender unit is defective, get the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gage to verify oil pressure. If the mechanical gage shows low oil pressure with the proper oil level then you need to have your unit repaired

This is a manual transmission? If so the clutch probably needs to be replaced. When you say "VIOLENTLY" what is going on, what is the road speed, what are the RPMs at? The more specific information the better. And this problem ONLY occurs between gear changes, right? The other times, everything is normal?
