Joe, have you ever put freon into a car before? If not wear safety glasses and hand protection, the freon goes in the larger fitting it will also be on the larger side if the line. Best way to fill one correctly is by weight but you can a set of gages and fill by pressure if there is an unknown amount already in the system, if you do not have gages, place your hand around the larger line as close to the compressor a fill till you can just feel the line start to get cold there and stop, otherwise, you can actually get to much and lockup and very possibly ruin your compressor. if your compressor will not come on then you need to jumper the low pressure switch generally it will be on the low side of the system close to the evaporater and will have two wires going to it. Hope this helps you! Merry Christmas!

Verify ambient temperature is above 65 degrees F.

1. Safety> - safety glasses, long sleeves and gloves, (exposure to refrigerant can cause frostbite).

2. Attach hoses to manifold> assembly, (hi, lo, and fill).

3. Remove caps from service ports, (Low press. Larger tube from evaporator to accumulator - passenger side over fender well; High Pressure - smaller tube from evaporator along firewall towards driver's side). Verify service> ports are clean.

4. Attach low press. and high press hoses to proper service ports.

5. Start car>, reset low refrig code, and turn ac on high and fan on high.

6. Read gauges and compare with chart provided with gauge set.

7. If low and high press readings are both low, then system needs recharge.

8. To recharge, attach fill hose to can of R134a and slowly open low press valve>, (NOT HIGH PRESS VALVE), until low press side reads 40 psi.

9. When flow stops and pressures stabilize close valves> and disconnect manifold from service ports and refrigerant can. Replace service port caps.

How do I recharge my ac myself on a 06 jeep liberty

You need an manifold gauge set a vaccum pump and correct ammont of r-134 ( everything can be rented at autozone with exception of refregerent for obvious reasons lol) take your gauge set and vaccume pump and vaccume your system down for at least an hour, after being vacuumed make sure ur system holds vacuum, make sure valves are open when vacuuming and before you turn the pump off close the valves by the gauges and keep the ones by the line fittings open wait at least 20 mins if it doesn't leak your good to go. Now fill the system with refregerent through the low side there will be a chart in the box that the gauges come in that tells you where your psi for the low and high side need to be. And make sure your a/c is turned on and on the max setting before filling. Is your system has leaked all it's r134 your probably going to have to adress the leak first . Good luck

How do you charge the a/c on 1998 jaguar xj8 high port or low port etc...?

Unless you are an AC technician this is not a safe task to take on. Could even explode/ It is also federal law that only certified techs fool with it.

Need air cindition recharge, don't have cash to take it someplace, can you help with instructions to do this

YOU NEED A R-134 GAUGE SET TO CHECK LOW PRESSURE SIDE AND HIGH PRESSURE SIDE.YOU ALSO CAN BUY A LITTLE CHEAPER GAUGE TO CHECK YOUR AC LOW BLUE SIDE AND HIGH RED SIDE AT ANY AUTO ZONE OR ADVANCE AUTO PARTS.WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU GET YOUR GAUGE SET HOOK GAUGE TO LOW PRESSURE SIDE BLUE CAP PORT AND GAUGE TO HIGH SIDE PRESSURE RED CAP PORT.YOU CRANK CAR UP GET IT OPERATING TEMPERATURE.THEN TURN AC ON HIGH COOL LET RUN 3 TO 4 MINUTES.CHECK LOW SIDE GAUGE READING SHOULD BE 28 - 32 PSI. HIGH PRESSURE SIDE GAUGE SHOULD 199 - 228 PSI. THATS NORMAL CHARGE. SEE YOU CANT JUST RECHARGE AC SYSTEM UNTIL YOU CHECK IT FIRST YOU WILL DAMAGE SYSTEM .NOW YOU CAN GO TO AUTO ZONE PARTS BUY A CHARGE CAN WITH GAUGE AND HOSE.ATTACH TO IT.YOU NEED MORE THAN ONE CAN.WARNING MAKE COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING WHEN YOU TURN ON AC .BECAUSE IF COMPRESSOR NOT RUNNING CHECK FUSE AND AC COMPRESSOR RELAY.IF BOTH OKAY.YOU COULD HAVE OPEN CLUTCH COIL A FAULTY LOW PRESSURE SWITCH WILL CAUSE AC NOT TO WORK. IF LOW PRESSURE GAUGE BLUE SIDE PRESSURE IS 28 OR 30 YOU DONT NEED A CHARGE.PROBLEM SOME WHERE ELSE.BE SURE TO WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN WORKING ON AC SYSTEM.

How do you refill the AC. When it needa done. Gow

Hi ,The Cheapest Way but Works well as long as your A/C System is all Working Properly=Go to your Local Auto Parts Store, Ask for a AC R134 Recharge Kit with the Gauge on It. Open Hood look for your LOW Pressure Valve (The Suction Side)It should be a Small Plastic Cap with the Initial (L) on It,Should be on the Passenger Side of The Vehicle Look for ALUMINUM LINES Running FROM your Evaporater you'll see some Larger Aluminum Lines Just Take Your Hand and Trace them Down Until You Find a Smaller Line .If the Caps on it you'll see it. OK Now Go Start Your Engine Turn the AC on Maximum Air and High Fan,On The Recharge Kit You Bought at the E nd of the Hose (BLUE) theres a Quick Connect ,Its normally Black,Shake the Can of R134 Up Real Good and with your Index and the Next Finger Pull Back the Quick Connect and now you can PUSH it on to your LOW Pressure Valve ,Once you Have it Connected, On Top of the Can theres a TEE Handle Turn it Clock-Wise until it Stops, Now turn it Counter Clock-Wise until you See The Gauge is Move Up Towards the GREEN AREA , While doing ALL Continue to Shake the R-134 Upside Down as Much as you have Room to. When the Needle on the Gauge is in The Center of the GREEN Area or a Little Past Center , NOW Turn the Tee Handle ALL the Way Clock-Wise until it Stops, This Way You have Shut off the Flow From The Can.CAUTION DO NOT REMOVE The Quick Connect Until you Turn The Tee Handle All the Way Clock-Wise. Once you do this Reach down with your Two fingers and Pull up on The Quick Connect and it Will Be Released from the LOW Side A/C Suction Valve.NOTE: DO NOT EVER PUT THIS OR TRY TO PUT THIS ON THE HIGH SIDE (A CAP MARKED WITH a (H) If you have completed All this you should Have Nice KOOL Air in Your Vehicle. Have a Good Day from the WYOCWBOY

I need to retrofit and recharge my 1988 Dodge Ram Ac.

First, the old R-12 must be completely evacuated fromt the system. R-12 and R-134A do not mix and won't function together. Once you are sure there's no R-12 left in the system, you need to install an R-134A fill valve on the low side AC line. This is where your refill hose will connect to add R-134A. Once the valve is in place you're ready to fill the system. The compressor requires a minimum of 20psi to engage and should not be filled to more than 45psi.

RECHARGING AC SYSTEM

1.Turn the truck on and turn AC on HIGH
2.Locate the low side AC line (will have a valve and cap similar to the cap on a tire)
3.Insert the oil or R-134A can to the hose (Do not turn the screw to puncture the can yet)
4.Insert the other end of the refill hose to the low side valve
5.Puncture the R-134A can with the screw on the refill hose
6.You should feel the system suction the refrigerant out of the can
7.Check for frost on the AC lines and the air blowing inside the truck
8.If frost develops and the air is cold, you've successfully recharged the system and disconnect the refill hose. DO NOT ADD MORE REFRIGERANT...overcharging the system will damage your compressor and will be less effective
Hopefully this answers your question and you're able to get your AC working again. Best of luck.

Need to recharge ac in 1995 chevrolet blazer. Not

1995 should have 134A. Look on the compressor and in the middle of it will be a sticker that says 134a or r12. If it is r12, you must retrofit it in order to charge it yourself.
