Question about 2002 Ford Expedition

Open Question

Rear Seat Entertainment System

The problem that I have is there is no power to the Video cassette player in the console. Nor is there any power to the video display unit in the rear. Chilton shows no diagram nor fuse location nor does the owners manual.I have removed the unit from the console and checked wiring and for power. There is no fire at plug for VCP but radio is fine. I have checked all fuses in power box and under dash box.No blown fuses. I am a ASE Master Mechanic but not an Audio Video guy. I had hoped to find one of you guys familiar with this system. Every one so far is telling me to buy another repair manual that may have the diagram in it.Not trying to be a smart a-- I could have done that without paying to be told go to another source. Come on guys give me some help here please. Thanks Jimmie i have the same problem. i have an 02 eddie bauer though. no power to the vcr or the overhead. i checked plug ins in the overhead and they are connected. where are the fuses located?

I have the same problem, went through the same diagnostic process and have hit the same roadblock. My Ford dealer won't even look at it - they outsource everything AV-related. I'd be happy to replace it with a DVD, but still need power and don't want to have to pull the center console out just to see if they have put a fuse in-line somewhere!

SOURCE: Rear Seat Entertainment System

Have you checked to see if there is power at the specific fuse for the vcr and the video display that are on the same power wire. Since there is no power to the back, it is possibly broken or disconnected somewhere along the way. The wiring usually runs down the bottom of the vehicle below the carpet. If I were you, I would try a new wire to the plug and see if that works but first test at the fuses to make sure they are getting power since they see fine. There shouldn't be any other fuses in the vehicle except for those two spots. Let me know what you find when testing at the fuses. thanks

There is a 4 amp fuse located under the center console. You need to remove the screw under the change compartment and the one under the handle of the lid. Then pull it off. Its towards the front. I replaced mine with a 5 amp fuse.

What does "NO REMOTE DVD" mean on the entertainment system screen?

Either the power to the DVD unit is off for some reason or the signal connection to the entertainment unit is loose. It sounds more like a power issue, since the ent. unit senses the DVD but can't access it. Have the dealer check it out.

BMW X5 Rear Entertainment System, center screen, player on center console floor. DVD discs cannot be read. CD's play fine. What is wrong?

A. Did you try a second disk to make sure the disk isn't bad?

B. Is the DVD a new format like HD, 3D or Blu-ray? if so it won't work.

Disc will not load into subaru forester cd changer

This also happened to my 2002 WRX. I took the CD player out of the console and found a tiny spring (which I could not find) was not in its location, which would actuate the "play CD" switch inside. After a few hours I decided to reassemble the player and use it as a non-CD unit. The radio and cassette player still work, so I purchased a cassette MP3 player adapter so I can plug in my cell phone and play songlists.

How to tune up dvd player

  • Plug the power cable of the Samsung VHS/DVD player into an available power outlet near the television.

Connect a set of RCA audio and video cables to the color-coded outputs on the back of your Samsung VHS/DVD player. The colors of these cables are yellow (video), white (left audio) and red (right audio).

Take the other end of the RCA audio and video cables and connect them to the color-corresponding inputs on your television. When plugging in these cables, look for a label for the input, such as "Video 1" and "Audio 1." This will be important in Step 5.

Turn on the television and the Samsung VHS/DVD player.

Tune your television to the video input channel that you noted in Step 3. If you did not take note, you can also tune through your television's input channels until you find the one displaying the signal from the DVD/VCR player.

Insert a VHS tape or DVD into the Samsung player and press the "Play" button to verify that the unit is functioning properly.

Component Video

Plug the power cable of the Samsung VHS/DVD player into an available power outlet near the television.

Connect a set of component video cables to the color-coded outputs on the back of your Samsung VHS/DVD player. These cables will look similar to composite audio and video cables, but they are instead color-coded as red, blue and green.

Plug the other end of the component video cables into the color-corresponding inputs on your television. Take note of what input number you are plugging the cords into, as it will be useful later.

Connect a set of RCA audio cables to "Audio Out" jacks on your VHS/DVD player, then connect the other ends to your television. These cables are color-coded as red and white and must be plugged into the same input number as the component video cables.

Turn on the television and the Samsung VHS/DVD player.

Tune your television to the component video input channel where you connected the Samsung VHS/DVD player.

Insert a VHS or DVD into the Samsung player and press the "Play" button to verify that the unit is functioning properly.
