Find a good auto-electrician with a Pro Grade scan tool computer. They cost about $5 grand. It can check issues with all the electrical modules and even take a snapshot at high speed in overdrive.
Probably neither. The brake light switch could knock out the cruise. You might check the computer for trouble codes, but you'll probably need a shop manual to get the test procedures for the cruise control.
Hi:
It is not a problem to turn Overdrive off, as it is recommended that you turn it off when hauling a load or decending a steep grade, as you get improved power and engine braking. The down side of not using overdrive is that your engine will rev somewhat higher, and your fuel economy will be less.
I would remove the IAC(Idle air control) Its what sets idle. This can become varnished up and slow action down or even cause what your discribing. Clean with brake or carb cleaner and insert back in.If you move the position its in, it will reset when you turn key on.
Governor pressure sensor or solenoid is going bad. To replace them drop the tranny pan, remove the filter , and the parts are pretty ez to get to. These aren't cheep thou, but replace them as a set. Parts will probly run about $200.
that is not normal
there is a problem in the drive shaft by sliding so fa into the diff the cv joint"U" joint is no longer directly in line with the kingpin and is binding up as the steering direction is varied
the center line of the joint has to remain directly inline with the turning point ( king pin, strut ) so that as the axle is turning and the steering is turned the joint is in the same plane
check why the axle is allowed to move in and out and you will have your problem solved
My 1999 dodge 4x4 2500 diesel transmission surges back and forth between gears at 45 mph. I had my transmission rebuilt and it keeps happening. What is going on.
