I have a 2001 volkswagen gti, and the headlights won't turn on as well as the heater& the directionals. I don't have a clue what it could be.

More than likely it needs an ignition switch. The trim around the steering column needs to be removed. 2 philips straight up just below the steering wheel, one t25 bolt near the column adjuster, and 2 philips behind the steering wheel. You can get to these by turning the wheel. Once the trim if off you can see a large connector for the ignition switch. Before disconnecting it, use a small flathead screwdriver to loosen the switch. There are 2 flat head screws behind some red threadlock between the connector and where you put the key in. Pull the switch out using the wiring, disconnect and reinstall in reverse order.

Where is the oxygen sensor on the car golf 4 gti 1.8t

You have one before the catalytic converter and one after. They look similar to a short spark plug with a single wire protruding from the end, and are threaded directly into the exhaust pipe.

If high beams are working and the dipped lights not it is usually the headlight switch that is faulty and will need to be replaced.

Gitting gti lights

The wiring is different, if your Golf had headlights with H4 bulbs then changing to high beam turns dip off. The GTi has separate dip and high lights, on high beam dip stays on (all 4 bulbs on).
