Question about 1996 Volkswagen GTI

1996 Volkswagen GTI LOw beams and wipers

My low beam headlites and wipers have stopped working. They will work if I hold the high beam flasher back. Then its the high beams working. I have power to low beam plug ins.

    So what do u want to know.. are they all on the same stick.. wipers and lights if so.. i reccomend looking into replacing the stick sounds like theres a short or its worn out..

It sounds like your switch has burnt out . You will need to remove the steering wheel and steering cowlings to remove and check the switches . Regarsd VW Audi Tech

SOURCE: headlights work on high beam but not on low beam is there a fuse

on these cars if 1 of the bulbs blow out then you will have to replace them both because they wont work. replace both headlight bulbs and they will be just fine

Make sure you have a good switch
bulbs good
relay and or fuse is good

I have a 1999 Corolla, and both headlights suddenly stopped working. The low beams don't work, but the high beams do. The fuses are fine.


low beam is a bulb on its own,usually under the big main bulb.the main big bulb works your normal night time driving and your high beam,ie.flashers.if 1 low beam has blown its more than likley a power serge blown the other side as they run off the same wiring.hope this helps.

it can be ure headlight switch that is faulty,try to get one to test it

Probably bad ground connections, clean & recheck headlights!

replace driver module relay .it controls the low beam lights.

2001 Pontiac Firebird has turn signal problem


The turns,hazards, high/ low headlamps, possibly cruise cont. and wipers, are all operated by the "multifunction switch". Replace it and you should be good to go. I hope this helps.
