I have a 1984 Nissan/datsun 4X4. Will not Idle properly, just dies if not constantly given gas. Sometimes has problem starting. Any ideas?

The throttle/choke adjustment would correct this. If adjusting this does not make a difference then the carb will need to be rebuilt/replaced.

Try changing your fuel filter. Check your mass air flow sensor. That might be going out. Or someone at that shop you went to tampered with your Idle level.

Car starts, runs rough it will eventually die after about 10 to 15 seconds, or if i try to give it gas. smells like gas. replaced fuel pump/filter

why did you replace the filter and pump?
did something get in the fuel?

check the injectors and spark plugs

in my car someone put flour in the fuel tank and the fuel pump, pumped it into the injectors where it cloged them up

so i had to replace injectors pump filter now it is good

Car starts but if i try to give it gas it dies

chances are this is going to be a mass air flow issue. unplug and see if it runs, then accelerate. let me know.

Car was low,low on fuel, put half tank in car.drove about 3miles onto 4lane and kicked it. when car tacked out in passing gear it started heasitating.eased off the accelerator and shifted fine.kicked it...

Replace the fuel filter. That should fix the problem. You can follow the fuel line back to the fuel tank to find it. It is usually in the middle of the vehicle near the edge of the vehicle, like right under the passengers or drivers door.
