Volvo v70 air con fault

Air con works ok for 10 mins fan running then conpressor stops engine cooling fan carries on working

    it is not the compressor something is causing the compressor to stop as it loses it electrical supply

    Air Conditioner problem. When we drive on the highway without any stops the air works fine. But when we're in town in stop and go traffic it will work fine for about 20 minutes or so and then the compressor stops. We can turn the air off while we're driving for about 4 or 5 minutes and turn it back on and its fine again but it continues to go through the same cycle. Cools for about 15-20 minutes, compressor stops, turn off air, wait 4-5 minutes, turn back on and start all over again. We can drive 2 hours straight on the open highway and it works without any problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    My air con was charged last week and with in 48 hours, it no longer works. the fan works just no cold air....aaahhh

    Drove 500 miles and a/c was fine, but encountered some stop & go, and it starts to blow out hot air. Then, you need to turn it off for a while before re-starting. Something is telling the compresspr to turm off.

    rodeo air con fan speed does not work on speed 2, one three and four work but when you click to 2, it stops working

This is probably a clutch problem on the compressor, either buy a new clutch or get a second hand compressor and swap the clutch over.

the cooling fan is designed to carry on working after engine is stopped so as to cool down the engine and help reduce the fuel evaperating so will start easier , how long does it run on for 10-15 mins is ok

the air con fan comes on with the air con switch. the engine cooling fan comes on when the engine temp. censer reaches operation temp. most times the air through the radiator when driving is enough to keep the censer cool and the fan not working if you stop at lights for any length of time it will come on.

We have a 2002 Chevy Malibu.. And the fans want run to keep the motor cool.. When the motor get too hot the car will shut off.. So, what do I do about it??

First check fuses, there are two fans if fitted with air con. The air con. fan only comes on with the air con. The engine radiator cooling fan comes on at operation tem., it is controlled by a censer switch on the radiator .If there is power to the switch and the switch is OK the fan motor is at fault.

It should be pulling air into the engine bay. If the fan still doesn't work after being replaced ; check (temp sensor) and fan relay.

Hey, i have a problem with a 1998 Volvo V70 diesel.Car can't blow hot air , and at the winter is getting really cold inside.What i'm sure about is that my thermostat is ok. My radiator is ok, liquid ok, ...

Did you recently do any cooling system work? The cooling system is pressurized and in your case it might have air in it. There is a bleed screw for the system, but I do not know where it is. But, let the engine warm up to the half way mark on the instrument cluster. Then try squeezing the upper and lower radiator hoses a few times. Does not have to be simultaneously. Wear gloves because the radiator hoses will be hot. Also be careful, not to come in contact with the fan, as this could cause serious bodily injury.

1999 V70 xc A/C will not work - air does not cool!

check if there still a freon on the AC system buy checking into the AC line and there is a small glass sight or just buy a book manual of that car in kragen. if still have a charge, check the condenser fan if working when you turn on the engine. This is located in the radiator ok. if not turning replacement needed. ok

Ac works at first then stops cooling. turn it off for 10 min and it cools 5 min when turned on

start with having the pressures checked, sounds like your compressor is cycling off due to low pressures...

My 2001 volvo v70 lower center console has stopped working.

Had the same problem. Wiring harness (under the driver's seat) junction had come loose. Pulled apart, cleaned, put back together, everything works fine.

Overheating, not pulling from overflow??

Hi, i'm going to ask if you've checked the fan clutch? with the engine running, do you feel a strong wind flow coming from the fan when you stand near it? If the fan clutch is not engaging, and it will still spin and look as though it is working, but it has no force. This will cause the engine to overheat. another thing to check is whether the electric fan comes on when you put the air con on.

1. If you don't feel a strong blow of air coming from the engine bay when it is running and the hood open, then very carefully and slowly try and see if the fan clutch is working by using a broom handle to hold it still when the engine is running. If it is working well, it will kick the broom handle out of the way. If not, the fan will just stop spinning with the broom handle holding it.

2. turn air con off and run engine. check fan clutch. If fan clutch ok, then turn air con on and see if the electric fan is running as well. If electric fan is not running as soon as you put the air con on, then the supply to the fan is faulty. This could be a fuse, a bad connection, or even switch relay.

The engine fan cannot cool the engine sufficiently on its own with the air con on.

an easy way to get air out of the engine coolant system is to take the cap off, and turn the engine on. with the engine cool enough, you can carefully squeeze the top coolant hose to push out the air and this should make the cooland level drop. top up the coolant through the radiator cap - not the reserve/expansion tank. with the rad topped up to the brim, put the cap back on.

do these tests first. They're easy and will let you identify if the system is working. If these are working, and it's still overheating, then it could be the rad cap becoming faulty, or even if its a replacement cap, it's rated wrong for the lbs, and doesn't let the radiator breath and let the expanded hot coolant flow into the expansion tank. This will make the engine overheat and build up enough pressure so that the coolant gets kicked out of the engine via a hose, splitting the radiator, or eventually the head gasket. This type of fault usually occurs when you sit still at lights, or parked up with the engine running, and you then notice collant squirting out. Also, especially after you've ran the engine and stopped the engine running. The build up of pressure has no where to go so the hot coolant from the engine pushes the coolant out of the nearest hole it can find.

Still, something is making it run hot, it could be the clutch fan or coolant pump.

Air condition

does it have voltage (12v) into the comp clutch if yes / ac clutch gap to wide if you can push it with a screw driver and it restarts (be carful ,engine runnig)
