The brake light can stay on if the master cylinder is low on brake fluid or if the emergency brake is on. The switch that turns the brake light on could be stuck on by the emergency brake pedal or handle. The check engine light is on because the cars computer senses a fault in the cars system. Have a mechanic shop scope the cars computer
Hi there: Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder. This is the only other thing that will turn that light on. There is a float inside the master and if it is low, the light will come on. Be sure to check and make sure the float comes up when you top it off.
Emergency brake may not be all the way off .Also thelow leval brake fluid sensor might need attention....check the fluid in the master cylinder and if thats good ,unplug the sensor at the brake fluid resivor and see if light goes out
That brake light also indicates when your brake fluid is low. Check your brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir and add some if necessary. Also, check the braking system for leaks.
Depends on car. But pretty much the same for most. The brake light can come on if the fluid is low in the master cylinder. Either from a leak or you need to change brakes. or the emergency brake switch is bad.
The brake fliud resorvoir may have a sensor on it that is at fault. Also if the brake pads are getting very tin the light will stay on for the brake fluid is low if not filled. Fill the fluid up and see if the light goes off. The sensor if equipt will have two wires for a conection
Hello. I assume that you want to know the location of the switch that activates the brake light on the dash when the park brake lever is pulled. It is under the rear of the park brake handle; you need to remove the console to see it.
However...if your brake light in your dash is staying ON, I would first suggest that you look at the level of brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. If it is low, the light will come on, also. The fluid level in the master cylinder drops proportionally as the brake wear. I would bet that your fluid is low; about an ounce of fluid decrease will light up the brake light.
I would check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder, if the level is too low it will lower the float in the master cylinder and turn on the brake light on the dashboard, especially if it is an occassional occurance. Hope this helps
