Question about 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada

Car cutting off

My service engine lights are not on, but my car keeps cutting off. I have replaced the fast intake censor & the map censor and no one seems to know what the problem is. Can you help. I'm told these makes of vehicles are nothing but problems.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the wiring harness in the steering column. Found this out after replaceing the computer brain ($700) and various other parts. It seems it had a short and when you turn the steering wheel just right it connects and shuts the car off.

This problem is often caused by a failed MAP sensor. Is your engine light on? If yes, have the computer scanned. If the scan indicates a fault with the MAP sensor, replace the sensor. If not or not engine light, you can run some tests on the sensor using a volt/ohmmeter.
Here is a procedure I found at autozone.com:

Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor

Fig. MAP Sensor power input testing-2.0L (3S-FE) VIN P
  • Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
  • Reconnect the MAP sensor connector.
  • Turn the ignition switch ON.
  • Disconnect the vacuum hose on the air intake chamber
  • Connect a voltmeter to terminals PIM and E2 of the ECM, and measure the output voltage under ambient atmospheric pressure.

  • Apply vacuum to the MAP sensor in 13.3 kPa (100 mmHg, 3.94 in.Hg) segments to 66.7 kPa (500 mmHg, 19.69 in.Hg). (my personal note here: you can just leave the vacuum line connected to the engine and start the engine to apply vacuum.)
  • Measure the voltage drop from step above for each segment.
  • If operation is not as specified, replace the MAP sensor.
  • Reconnect the vacuum hose to the air intake chamber.

Check engine light came on vehicle shut down,Nissan Wingroad Y11,on checking with tech it showed Air flow censer, changed it drove about 50metres light came back on car stutter shut down. help

First inspect the boot from sensor to the intake manifold for cracks, inspect all the vacuum hoses to the intake.
second unplug the connector and inspect the terminal.Sometimes the plastic is burn and the wire pusht out of terminal. insert the wire all the way in or replace the pigtail.
plug scanner and monitor the air flow and air temperature on live data.
inspect the wire harness for damage to engine ground.
    good luck

I was driving my 06 Dodge Magnum at approximately 60 MPH & the Check Engine Light comes on. What could be my problem(s). Gas cap is properly secured...

It sounds like an O2 censor, If it happens when your around that speed it could be the map censor or the 02 censor. You need to go to a garage and have them hook it up to find out which 02 censor is causing it.

Car starts runs as soon as you rev it up some it cuts out and dies replaced map censor computer and other censors and fuel filter

Try replacing the crank sensor and relearn the idle air control. The sensor is in the back of the motor. They tend to crack and this will cause stalling.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Replaced head gasket and intake gasket, redid timming, replaced injectors when driving down the road goto a stop it dies and i can restart the car then stop again it dies and restarts

It sounds like your not getting fuel you may want to get the map censore checked it controls the fuel and tells the fuel on which way to go. It sits on the top of the engine and its right hooks up to the injection system.

I need to know where you would locate a o2 censor and 2 map censors for a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am..V-6? I have no idea where to even begin looking on the car.

The O2 sensors are found on the exhaust pipe. They screw into the pipe and has wires coming off of them. The MAP sensor has a 3 or 4 wire plug with a vacuum hose connected to it commonly found on the intake or firewall.
