Did you check the fuel pump relay ? The relay gets power from a fuse and also from the PCM relay. The computer grounds the relay to turn it on for 3 seconds when you turn the key on, then only after the computer "sees" RPM or oil pressure.
You'll have to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem. Is the check engine light on ? Have you checked for trouble codes ? It could be a relay, the ignition module, coil, fuel pump, or a list of other things.
Hi In most case's it will be the spark plugs which will need to be replaced. Try to do these asap as it will lead to more further problems. If you have done this then check when air/fuel filters were last replaced and replace these.
try changing the fuel filter and turn the key on and off several times before starting engine. once running check the vaccum line on the fuel pressure regulator.the regulator can leak fuel from that connection.
My 98 Cherokee was the exact same. I used to have to turn the key back and forth 3 times and then it would start. Otherwise it would just crank and crank for a while and then start. Pretty embarrassing! Took it to the dealer and they said that my fuel pump was losing pressure. I changed the fuel pump and I don't have to prime the pump anymore.
