Please check within the transmission near the valve body assembly. This is where the shift solenoids should be.

I want to charge ac in 1996 grand marquis but need to identify input valve

There are two access ports in the system. The high side one is located after the compressor, and before the receiver drier, which is an oblong shaped cylinder about 8" tall, just before the firewall, on the passenger side. The low side port is located in the other aluminum tube, before the input of the compressor. Follow the instructions with the re-charge kit and you should have no problem.

1996 grand am gt has a/c problem. Found low pressure side to be 75 PSI and high side was 150. I think it's the expansion valve, if so, where is it located. Temp was between 85 @ 90.

I think you have 2 issues

It either has a leak & someone tried to
add refrigerant & let air in or your
compressor seal slowly leaks & you may
be able to evacuate & recharge it

It won't work next summer though

Forget the expansion valve unless you had a
compressor failure.

I can not locate the low pressure vavle to add the 134a freon to recharge the system, one article said it is located on the drivers side near the firewall, also the cap would have an L on it. im pretty...

Need to find the location for expansion valve on honda accord lx 1996

expansion valve is located inside evaporator box behinde glove box you will need to evac system and recharge if going to replcace...this job is not for the first time mechanic

Locating low pressure valve on 96 explorer for ac recharge

The largest diameter line is the suction which is low. The small one that runs to a coil by radiator is high pressure. If there is no cooling then you may have air in the system which means a leak must be fixed first. Are you sure the compressor is engaging? You should hear it click and the engine bog down a little.

Wow! What a helpful site! Fifty people asking where the low pressure port on the a/c is, not one answer! a simple diagram would suffice! Its not like we're asking what if my car makes a punkata punkata noise, where the hell is the damn port? a picture, drawing, general location... screw it im gonna put it on the high pressure side(clearly visible) and then sue g.m. when it blows in my face, like their mom

Air conditioning needs recharged

First, you have to locate the thicker line in the compressor, then follow up until you find the valve to recharge the system, usually is located near by the accumulator bottle.

It is under the car in the middle behing the oil pan, up a little. You can crawl under it and see it and recharge it without jacking it up

Really, really, a stupid place to put the refill port for the ac! the one next to the radiator is in the best location, but nooooo! it's not the right one! when the engine needs to be running with the a/c on max, the last place to be is, under and behind the heat of the engine! what kind of 'idiot engineer' works at pontiac?
