Will a bad blower motor risistor cause a slow battery drain, leading to a low battery charge on my 2005 jeep crand cherokee? I have had a problem with the fan motor only working on high, and for about 3 weeks my battery has been staring my engine slowly. Last night I had to jump it off. I went to an auto store to purchase a new battery thinking that it was just a 5 year old factory battery. They advised me that it did not need a battery, just a charge. I have ordered a new resistor, but do you think I have other electrical problems?

Most drains are caused by door switches or hood switches not turning off lights. It could really be anything. You can either get a meter, pull off your Negative battery cable and put one meter lead on your now off.negative battery cable and negative battery terminal. Set your meter to read dc amps. Start pulling fuses one by one until the meter reads less then .5 amps or 500 mA. If you dont have a meter you can try pulling one every night until you battery no longer drains and narrow it down from there. Anything with power could really be causing this. Alternator and starters are also known for draining batterys while not running.
check fuses, then wiggle speed control while moving, may need new dash control for lower speed, usually high speed works through relay may be the reason high speed works
There is a blower resister module in the blower case, near the blower motor that is bad, what causes this is a bad blower motor,it may run good and sound good, but it is drawing to many amps, and is burning the resister out, this is your speeds. If this was at all helpful, please rate, and thank you.
hello, this sounds like a bad blower motor resistor!! its cheap and easy to change..if you need more info on locations let me know,, good luck.....marty
Your freon level is low, and not circulating on slow compressor speeds. Stop by any shop that has a sign stating they work on a/c and they can recharge it for you in a few minutes. Here where I live they charge about $20.00 labor plus a charge for the freon they put in, they sell it by the pound.
The blower motor resistor is bad. The reisistor is located under the
dash by the blower motor. If the car has auto temp, the resistor is
like a small module and can be expensive.
could be anything overcharging the system, freon leak faulty componets like compressor or clogged lines or orfice tube or dirty evap. coil check for 12 volts comming into the blower motor with ur switch on high if ur getting 12 volts at the plug then replace ur blower motor
