Question about 2005 Pontiac Sunfire
I take it the ignition light on the dash illuminate? if so you need to get to the starter and check that it is earthed well (check the body of the started - the yoke or bracket) and that the main positive ( the thick wire on the solenoid from the battery positive terminal) is good. Then you need to hold the key to start whilst checking that the smaller wire to the solenoid is positive.

Bad earth or live are self explanitary and easily fixed, no 'pull in' is a little more complex and can be a multitude of faults but we'll get to that later
