Front suspension is noisy ( knocking noises) on rough roads. No problem on smooth roads.A warrant inspection has not picked up any problem.

Hi
I had the same problem. It cast me lot money in changing few things but finally found. The side where the noise comes from look fro the supension arm it is connecting the main suspensionto the body. You have to change that or find silicon oil and spray around the bushes of the arm.

good luck

My A190 Mercedes make a a whop whop noise at the front left after turnng a sharp left upgrade corner. Is this a problem with the drive shaft or the gearing . It is a semi automatic

This car is a front wheel drive so it is most probably the constant velocity joint. You should be able to reproduce the noise by turning the wheel fully left and driving forward. If it does it every time, you can safely say it is the CV joint. Generally if one is faulty you replace both as the other side wont be far behind in condition. For most car this is a fairly cheap fix but I suspect it wont be for a Mercedes.

When I accelerate forward from a comp stop my car makes a loud grinding/screeching by the front driver side. Once running the noise stops but until it catches speed it makes the sound. What is that?

It could be several things, and I'm going to assume that the vehicle is front wheel drive.

First possibility is the constant velocity joint on the driver's side is worn out.

Second possibility is the wheel bearing on the driver's side.

As to the shaking at 70+mph, you may have an alignment problem, or some issues with the suspension components on that side of the car.

Does the noise get worse when accelerating from a stop, and turning, at the same time?

My volvo v70 2002 is showing the warning 'abs/anti-skid service reqd', also the driver side front wheel makes a screeving sound not unlike worn doiwn pads on discs when making a right or left

Felix any noise coming from the front wheel while turning leaves me thinking front constant velocity joint if the car is front wheel drive. With the abs light on I would take down the front driver side wheel and check the brakes for wear along with the front wheel bearing assembly for play or loosness, Check for the sensors to make sure they havent came off and are rubbing your rotors as you make your turn. It can be a number of things. Usually when its the front constant velocity joint it makes a popping noise as if something is binding. As for the front wheel bearing assembly it could make noises usually after the car has been ran down the road and heated up the bearing then it will sing to you. But as you mentioned about the noise only during turning I would lean towards constant velocity joint or sensor hanging and rubbing the rotor, Its only one way to find out. Hope this helps.

2007 ford fusion awd v-6 driveline or suspension area or assembly makes a noise (possibly a bearing) when car is in motion. When not moving and motor is running, there is no noise. Appears to be coming...

It sounds to be a Constant Velocity Joint (CV JOINT)...You can look under the car at the ft.axles nd inspect the cv joint rubber boots...Normally they will split from wear or road debree and through the grease out making the bearings go bad...However some will go bad without the boot being torn...If that is the case it is best to replace the whole axle when determining which side it is.....Hope this helps..Check all components for looseness ...You really need to put it on a lift and check it.......Metalpoet

Sounds like you have a suspension issue. Go out side and push up and down on the front and back of the vehicle. if you see alot of motion, i would recommend replacing some suspension parts

I have an intermittent noise from under the hood when the car is in drive and moving. Noise stops when the car is stopped at the light or in park

I believe your carrs makes the noise when in motion. hence it is important to identify the place from where the noise is heard. if it is from the fron please use a jack and life up your car. check the rotation of the wheels,if noisy then check on the wheel bearings, brake linings, pads, discs. opne and confirm check the front suspension for damage to the links, the shock absorbers, the bushes that support the arms, and for any chassis damage that is scrapping against the tyres. Do the same for the rear side. Please also try to press down the car for any squeaking. locate the noise and change the part which could be as above. However is you think that the noise is coming from the gear box/ differencial, then it might pose a bigger problem, it could be low oil in your gear box, failure of the counter wheels, the gear drives or shafts. if is important to run the drive while in jack. I hope you get this helps. Good day. .

Drove over a snow bank. mostly left side of my wrangler was on the bank, about 45 minutes later there was, i guess it could be best described as a scraping noise coming from below my front passager seat....

Jack the front end and try a twisting motion on the wheel. There should be almost no play in it at all.

Take a look at the suspension and see if there is anything noticeably different between the two sides...this will let you know if you have bent something.
