Hi, I finally solved mine after about 3 years without it! Firstly, there is a connection under the carpet near the driver's feet. This connector connects 6 or so wires. The important one is the PURPLE wire that connects to BLACK. This connection burns out and melts the plastic connector, usually causing a short or potentially a fire! I just cleaned up the connector so that nothing was touching (no contacts touching eachother) and spliced the PURPLE and BLACK wire directly with some heavier gauge wire than whats used in the car.

NOW, i figured that part out 2 years ago and was still in the same situation. Finally got around to ripping the dash apart and taking out the hvac unit (where you control your temperature etc.)... In behind that unit is the very same PURPLE wire (opposite end of it) that has also burned and corroded in the connector. I disconnected the entire hvac unit, pried out the black plastic thing that contains the built in relay and defog switch, again used heavier gauge wire wrapped to the melted connector and fed that wire out with hvac bulb wires and spliced the other end to mr.PURPLE . Sealed everything up and to my elation, NO MORE FROST ON THE REAR WINDOW. Hope this helps someone.

I have a 2015 Chevy Equinox my rear defogger quit working somehow the light comes on but it's not clearing it. Any ideas for in suggestions and where can I find the fuse panel and which one might it be...

You can see fuse, correct. With rear defogger turned on, use test light, see if any voltage at fuse or if fuse is blown? Also, check continuity on defogger grid, if no continuity, there is a break in the grid. If you can find the break, hopefully your local auto store has continuity paint that you can paint over the break to restore continuity.

Need wiring diagram of rear-window defogger circuit for 2008 Chevy Impala LT

i just fixed my car to the exact question above, it took 20 minutes total. yes I\'m good with a wrench, but this fix doesn\'t reqire you to be.

Problem: Rear defroster doesn\'t work, but the fuse is good and the little light comes on on the button.

Answer: Go to front passenger kick panel where the "other" fise box is and remove the pastic panel, it just pops straight up. Under the fuse block is a white plug that connects front wire harness to the rear harness. this is where the problem is. pull the connector off the body, my plugslide straight back. Now flip the whole connector over, there you\'ll see the burnt spot on the plug. losse, corroded connection causes melt down. this stuff happens. my car has a purple wire going into the plug and a black one coming out, this is the rear defroster wire. cut the purple wire aleast a half inch before the plug and cut the black one coming out of the plug the same, always leave a little wire incase you ever want to reuse that terminal, standard rule. now take two butt connectoers and a four inch piece of ten gauge and splice the purple and black wires back together. lots of current so DO NOT use 12-14 gauage wire, it will melt. and Wa-La, its fixed!! since you dont have to do the trouble shooting and chase down the wires like i did, should take you ten minutes to fix.

Now if this doesn\'t fix your car, then don\'t pay me!!

If this DOES fix your car, then take your wife out to dinner with the $150.00 i just saved you from having to take it to the dealer,

(they would sale you new connectors and harness)

Rear Defogger Inoperative, But Heated Mirrors Operate Correctly
1. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn rear defogger on. Using scan tool, display BCM
outputs. If rear defogger is being requested on, go to next step. If rear defogger is not being requested on, go to
step 10).
2. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Remove rear defogger relay from rear junction block, located on center
right rear of passenger compartment, under rear seat. Connect test light between ground and defogger relay
harness connector terminal F3 (Brown wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not
illuminate, go to step 11).
3. Connect test light between ground and defogger relay harness connector terminal A2 (Red wire). If test light
illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 12).
4. Connect test light between defogger relay harness connector terminals A2 (Red wire) and B3 (Purple wire). If test
light illuminates, go to step 13). If light does not illuminate, go to next step.
5. Disconnect rear defogger positive and negative feed bus connectors. Connect a jumper wire between defogger
relay harness connector terminals F3 (Brown wire) and A4 (White wire). Connect test light between ground and
positive feed bus connector terminal "A" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not
illuminate, go to step 8).
6. Connect test light between positive feed bus connector terminal "A" (Black wire) and negative feed bus connector
terminal "B" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 9).

93Toyota Corolla DX > Rear Defogger Inop

If you have a 12 volt test lamp, try this: Turn on the rear defroster. Attach the clamp to a good ground point; the door latch hoop is good)...Now, touch the test lamp to the extreme left and extreme right sides of the grids, on the inside of the glass. If the light does not light in either place, you probably either have a bad defroster relay, or the wires coming to the rear grids is off. Please feel free to get back to me with the results of your test.

2003 Envoy Both the rear windshield wiper and defogger quit

Have you checked the wire harness that goes between the hatch and the body? The constant opening and closing weakens the wires. Could also be the ground wire, I believe is inside the hatch. It could have come undone. If you have an owners manual, it should guide you to the defogger fuse. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

2001 Sienna rear window defogger doesn't work

There are 3 fuses that control the rear defogger, and 1 relay

The fuses are: 10 amp HEATER, 10 amp MIRROR-HEATER; under the dash
The 30 amp DEF fuse is in the fuse box under the hood
The relay is the DEFOGGER relay, which is on the back side of the fuse panel under the dash

Also, check for a loose wire on the defroster grid (on the back glass), this is the most common problem.
