Question about 1988 Mercedes-Benz 190

Shooting oil The other day while I was driving my 1988 Mercedes 190E, oil started spewing from nder the hood. I couldn't tell where exactly it was coming from because I was driving at the time. Why would that happen? There was plenty of oil in car... Help desperate in Phoenix Kimerlee

1987 190e Mercedes shooting oil from valve cover in to air cleaner area.


Could be a couple of things.

1st the valve cover gasket is shot because its old.
2nd blocked oil breather is causing high oil pressure which blew the gasket mentioned above.

Replace the gasket 1st and see what happens.

Wont get out of first gear


1988 is a mechanical control for the gearchange then if the 91 is the same which i think it is then no problem .Dont think they went computer controlled till about 96/97

hello,be sure your starter motor is working,fly wheel gear(for starter bendix drive)should also check,valve clearance also,try to rotate your engine with socket 27mm,(manually) maybe your piston is stuck-up,ty

Engine no start on 1988 mercedes benz 190e


Hello, You could have a stopped up fuel filter or a bad fuel pump or bad gas etc. If you overfilled the trans, that would explain the oil loss. It will also aerate the trans oil and make the trans not work properly. You didn't mention what vacuum hose was broken. This could also cause the engine to not run properly. You need to check the fuel pressure and supply and go from there. Make sure that the trans fluid is 10mm below the mark on dipstick when cold and on the mark when warm.
If fuel pressure and supply is correct you need to check the exhaust system for restriction.

Mercedes 1992 190E 2.6 Oil Pressure


put a can of STP oil additive into the engine if this doesnt work put another one in,if still no joy try changing the oil pump.if you dont want to change the oil pump then put 3 cans of STP in engine and sell it quick
