You have to go to an autozone or simalar to rent ,there is two wrenches you need, the short wrench you use with a breaker bar and hold the waterpump pulley and the longwrench loosens the clutch hub nut

Do you know how to get the fan and fan clutch off the old water pump? we took out all 4 bolts on the clutch and still nothing my dad says there is a nut that twists off but have been unsuccessful

You have to hold the belt pulley to prevent it from turning, then unscrew the fan clutch by using a wrench or big channel locks on the part of the clutch nearest the pulley. On your Ram it should be a standard( not left handed) thread. You might have to put the old water pump in a vise to hold it while unscrewing the clutch. When you put the clutch back on you just need to snug it up on the water pump, the pump is a reverse rotation so the clutch will not unscrew itself.

The 8mm flange bolt will not loosen on the Belt Tensioner for my 2000 Ford Ranger - how do I remove the fan so I can get to the bolt more easily?

On 2000 ford ranger 3.0 motor. you have to have a special tool to remove the fan clutch from the front of the water pump..The threads are left hand. I used a strap wrench to hold the pulley then used a cheater bar on the fan shaft.

Take the shroud
d off and take screws out if that is all you need.
I am changing water pump now, having a difficult tme with ps and air c. brackets
Hope this helps

Overheating problem

If the fans are electric fans, check or replace the fan electrical circuit and fan relay.

If fan is driven off the water pump, through a clutch, replace the clutch. Just because it turns, does not mean it has failed.
