IT MEANS THAT YOUR CAR IS NOT RECOGNISING THE KEY,try the spare.then try putting the key in the trunk lock and turning it to the left,(reset alarm/immobiliser)if that dont work you will need to get the car recalibated on the VW diagnostic computer(not a code reader)have you dropped the key or had it placed next to magetic field???

Need to buy engine oil for my 2001 VW New Beetle 2.0 gas engine - what weight of oil do I buy

The proper weight for your oil should be written on the oil fill cap located under your hood. It's like a 20 weight oil.

What would cause the 03 beetle to start fine and then die immediately? There is gas in the car, and the car was driven into the garage the night before without any problems. Help!

The bproblem ussually is there isnt enough fuel pressure try fuel filter first then if that does not cure it you will have to get new fuel pump.

Oil pressure light is blinking.

It's very possible a coincidence and that the flashing oil light is the oil pressure switch. I'd check it out immediately to make sure there's sufficient oil flowing through the engine. Merely jump starting the car shouldn't have knocked anything loose so to be on the safe side, assume there's an oil pressure issue. You were right to not use the car in the interim.

My wife says the oil light just came on her 2001 beetle (is this a low level sensor?)

oil pressure sensor = when oil light comes on = sensor is not recieving a high enough oil pressure. 1) Did you check the oil level in the engine? 2) if the oil level is fine, and it just had an oil change, the filter (filament style) might have been installed upside down. also does the light come on and beep only during first couyple seconds of being started or while driving down the road?

2000 VW Beetle dies occasionally and won't start for a while

run a scan tool on it and make sure there are no codes, if there is codes address those problems first, if no codes.. next time it won't start check for fuel preasure. it is probably a fuel pump getting ready to go out or they may be a large amount of something other than gas clogging the pick-up sock at bottom of fuel pump.

2000 new beetle starting

Try changing the engine temp sensor. The sensor will be telling the ECU that the engine is hot when actually its cold. therefore the fuel mixture will be weak.I this doesnt cure it, i would be looking at fuel starvation. Faulty of cracked fuel pump or just maybe run out of fuel.

Car starts then immediately idles down and shuts off

i have had the same problem at times. my car would start and then shut off. but i found that i needed oil and check my oil and it was a quater low put in some oil and everything went fine i notices that everytime the oil is low the same thing happens also depending on the position of the car being park meaning that if you are in a down hill position or up hill position i will do the same. so you have to accelarate for 1 minute to have the oil go up. i hope this works

Car starts but shuts off immediately.

it may have something to do with getting gas to the right places.
