It sounds like the upper section (known as the plenum) of the intake may be leaking at the gasket, this is a common problem on a 5.0L V8. It takes about 1-2 hours to change, and the gasket is cheap, make sure that you throughly clean the gasket surface of the upper and lower intake before putting it back togeather, you will need a special tool to remove the center Torx head retainning bolt, it is a long star/torx bit, It is a T40 The MAC tool number is SC161.

96 escort 1.9 manual jerking while accelerating 96 escort 1.9 manual

best advice is dont go 40mph in 5th gear... if you are going up a hill at 40mph in 5th gear i have no doubt that it is jerking, your putting too much stress on the engine. shift up to 4th or 3rd you will be fine. 5th gear is an overdrive gear. 55+mph

Why does the oil engine light come on when i engage the clutch ?

When a car is in gear with the Gas pedal pushed down, the engine RPM is high so the oil pressure is high too that means the Sending unit is detecting high pressure. But when you engage the clutch that means the gas pedal is released so the RPM drops and the pressure drops down too. So all i can say is that you might have a bad oil pump that needs always high RPM to keep the oil pressure normal.

Good luck

I have a 96 chevy cavalier 2.2l 5spd manual clutch 3 months ago...fluid level is full...shifts with no grinding...but when u release the clutch... It takes a minute for it to start ...

sounds a lot like the throwout bearing is binding on the input shaft and not releasing the pressure plate. In any case, it needs to come apart to look before anything else gets damaged..
