Question about 2005 Ford Escape

1 Answer

Sudden power loss

Just purchased a second hand 2005 Ford Escape XLT. Has all the options. A/C , heated seats all leather. The problem is when driving on the highway, I noted an interruption in the radio , it cut out when i looked down all the gages returned to 0 for a few seconds. Then everything went back to normal. The lady i bought it from had a remote started put on the machine. That is the only thing that has been done with the machine. She had it to Avalon Ford dealer , she only noticed it with the radio. They put it on the diagnostic machine and couldn't find anything. I have small children and am wondering if this is dangerous.

No it shouldn't be dangerous as long as you have the remote startup controller. As for the power cutting out it could be a bad battery, faulty cables, or even a failing alternator.

I am swapping in leather seats. New drivers seat is 10 way, with memory and heat. What wires should have 12v and ground to get power to the seat?

And it won't. You probably jumped too many years, And definitely the plugs. 6 to 10. Power and ground is there, Just at the wrong spot. You need pin outs for both. Alldatadiy.com. You can buy them both.

1997 Ford Explorer Power Seat Wiring

There are several options. It all depends on how bad you want the leather seats. You could disassemble the seats and transfer the upholstery from one seat to the other, or you could transfer the motor mechanisms from one seat to the other. The leather seats are most likely equipped with seat heater elements...there is no way you are going to get them to work without redesigning half of the vehicle, so you can either leave the heating elements out when you transfer the upholstery or just leave their respective connectors disconnected.

Wher do you install a cabin filter on a 2005 Ford Escape XLT?

Yes you have one and it runs about $15.00.

Looking for a picture for you but it should be in the engine compartment area, passenger side, just below the windshield on the firewall area...or JUST above it.

But looking for a picture for you. It states that you should change it about every 150,000 miles.
