Want to put in a push button starter in 94 jetta ; has to post on back one ignition switch other is soleniod. what do i wire to the ignition post ? thanks

If you wire it directly to the battery, you should install an in-line fuse in the wire.

Battery connection means anytime the button is pushed switch on or not the starter will turn.

Wiring to ignition (meaning 12 volt source which is only hot when switch is on) means it will only turn starter when switch is on.

However you do it, make sure it's fused.

I need to check the solenoids in a 94 jetta mach 3, where are they and how can i do that. The car doesn't turn over, and starter is new

there is a single red wire on the end of the starter, use a test light and see if it lights when you have the key in the crank position, also if the ignition switch is bad if you wiggle the key while in the crank position this will help if it is in fact the ignition switch itself.

94 vw jetta would not start

94 Jettas have a anti-theft kill switch. It can mimik the starter or alternator. Lock all the doors with them closed, then unlock the drivers side with the key. Wait about two min then try cranking it. Should start up instantly, if not reset the computer.
