Question about 2002 Volkswagen Cabrio
I used the key I got when I bought the car from the seller, and it turns left and right, but nothing catches so it will open. I took it to the dealer to get something fixed, and mentioned it to them, and they tried the key and got the same result.
I have had the same problem...and yes I tried both keys just to make sure. I'm going to have to take it back to the dealer to have it fixed:(

You have two keys for your car, one is the key that will open everything including the trunk and the console, the other is the valet key which will open the doors and start the car but will not open the trunk or console; this is why it is called the valet key, so when you go to the restaurant and someone parks your car they can open it and drive it but not get into where you have your valuables stored.
Try that and see if your problem is solved.
