Question about 1991 Volkswagen Passat
I loaned my car out, and got it back with the door locks not working now. I dont have the diagram for the fuse box in the car, but i pulled each fuse and replaced the ones that needed replacing. This did not help. Any idea how this happened? and how to fix it?
It probably happened if the door was not fully closed, and was then locked, or was locked, then forced open from inside.
You say fuses had blown - and you replaced them? If so which ones?
This is quite an involved problem, as you need to trace where the fault lies. It will probably be only one door providing the fault.
If one motor is shorting (due to bent locking rods etc), then the whole system may fail to operate.
Check both front doors with the key if it's central locking. If one will not try to lock all four - that's the faulty one. If you get no power at all, then you will have to find the short.
Please contact again for more detail. Thanks.
