The way i do it . if you put regular gas in and if your hear gas ping then go to the next grade it should quit. i dont like my four banger sounding like a diesel so i use 89 oct so it wont have the gas ping. it use to not ping on regular but lately we have been getting really **** gas around here so i watch were buy gas too.

Should I use 95 or 98 octain for my new GTI? Regards Gelfand

95 is recomended for all modern vehicles only use 98 for older vehicles that were designed for four star leaded fuel like any pre 92 vehicle in europe .You will not get any increase in performance from using this fuel as the flame rate across the piston is the same with all fuels its only the anti knock additive that denotes the fuel octane rating .Older cars had a lot higher compression ratio which required this higher rating ,like a MKII jag needs 5 star owing to high compression engine combined with the egg shaped piston to give it swirl which increases the efficiency

Why to Use a fuel with the lowest required octane in the car?

Low-octane "regular" gas is usually all that is required. Octane is only a rating of the fuel's resistance to engine-damaging pre-ignition ("knock") in high-performance engines (that few people have). Low octane gas is less expensive and a better value if that's all your engine requires. Best case scenario you're wasting money by filling up with a higher than recommended grade of gas. Worst case scenario that high octane fuel is building up damaging carbon deposits in your engine because it's not being burned as completely as lower octane fuel would be. Check your owner's manual to be sure. Modern high performance cars will sometimes recommend higher octane fuels because they are engineered to use those fuels. The use of lower than recommended octane will not make your car explode, the ECM (Engine Control Module, aka:computer) will adjust the fuel injectors and spark timing to save the engine and compensate for you cheaping out at the pump. Those adjustments will consist of retarding the spark (reducing power and efficiency) as well as dumping lots of extra fuel into the cylinders to cool them, potentially costing you more than getting mid grade or premium IF that's what your car requires. NOTE: Remember that engines need less octane at higher altitudes. If your engine does not "knock" on regular, paying more for a higher octane rating is a waste since the increased octane makes no significant improvement to gas mileage and it is no better for your engine. All available fuels have detergent and additive packages. This will help.good luck.

Needs to know the best recommended fuel type for my toyota corolla 1993 model

You should be using regular unleaded. This is "regular" 87-octane gasoline. You have no reason to need gas with a higher octane, it would be a waste, stick to 87.

Good luck!!

Gas octanes recomended. Here we have 93 , 95 , and 97 octanes

The higher the better. If your car is made for 93 you can without problem use 95 or 97 but if your car use 95 you soulden use fuel with lowe octane number such as 93 od 91 which you can still found in some countries.
In aurope there is no longer fuel lower then 95.
Higher te octan number better the fuel is, it burns faster cleaner and make more energie and can be more compressed.
My recomendation is 95 because it is most common but you can use 97 as well!!!

I dont have a owners manual for my truck and i was just wondering how many quarts of oil do i need durin change, what oil is recomended, and what gasoline is recomended

Hello zimca,
I Take it the motor is a 5.7 liter v8 or a 4.3 liter v6 could even be the 5.0 but I would say that with the oil filter it should take 5.5 quarts of oil. some take 5 so after 5 start the engine for 15 seconds and shut it down and check it. As for the Ocatane I my self always run 92 octane I know it is more money but I have had less build up of carbon better running just all around better preformance. Its up to you though. so I hope that helps you out somewhat. Thanks for using Fix Ya Bear001
