Electric windows The windows force the inside of the door panels to bow out when they are rolled down. It seems as if they are going down too far. Is there a limit switch or something to limit their travel?

There are plastic rollers and stops inside the door. If the rollers are worn out, this can cause the window to push in towards the door panel. If the stops are worn out then the window will go down to far. You can find replacements either at AutoZone or the dealership.

The motor is not grounded through the frame... Direction of rotation is controlled by apply B+ to one lead and ground to the other.

theres a "Window Regulator Safety Relay" between the fuse box

    and the window switch.

If you have measured 6.5 volts on a circuit with no load nor current

flowing, I'd address that issue first. Voltage measurements need to be taken on a circuit that is intact and operating to mean anything.

How to remove rear door panel on my 2008 pt cruiser

I think the rear windows are designed to only go down so far as the body design of the rear doors won`t allow them to completely go down. the doors are a different shape than the front doors.

Electric windows do not work

This could be the wiring harness that goes from the cab to the door. You are going to need a meter or test light to check the wires for voltages. You are also going to need to take the interior panel off the inside of that door. Let me know if you want more info.

Driver window will not open/close

I'm thinking that the window was partially down, and your door was closed very hard. (slammed closed) This will commonly cause your window to jump out of its track. With the window out of its track, it will make the window hard to roll up, overheating your motor and causing it to thorow its safety switch, (to prevent window from busting) This will usually reset itself in 1-2 min. The window will go down easier, due to the fact the the window is helped down by the force of gravity, or it is not fully in the track at this point, so there is less friction against the window. Roll the window down as far as it will go, spread the felt weatherstripping where window seals to the door, and use a flashlight and see if you can spot the track that the window has jumped from. Sometimes you can force (but be carfull) the window back into its track, othertimes you have to remove the door panel to guide the window back in place. Your window is definatly off track or you have a very weak window motor.

Driver window will not work.

You need a small piece of aluminum foil ( like inside paper of a box of cigarette ) . Fold it somehow to become same size as the connection or a little bit biger. Put it between them. You should open the thing that make windows go up & down from the door and find the connection place. But watch to not destroy the wire. It is easy. I am not sure if I explain it enough. But it worked for me.

Driver side window will not function properly. On occasion when trying to roll up it seems to hit an invisible barrier and rolls back down at regular speed.

likely that the bolts that mount your window to the arm that lifts/lowers the window have rattled lose and are no longer allowing the rod to lift the window. my truck has recently had the same exact problem. may also be the electric motor though. mine are manual widows though but depending on vehicle there may be screws holding your interior door panel/handle on just unsnap the door cover and look inside.

Window seems to be jammed by a small rock. Need to remove door panel to get at it.

By what your describing your problem is the window regulator is bad.The regulator is cable operated and is probably broke or twisted causing it to only roll up to the point of the problem. As for removing the door panel, there's a screw under the arm rest, have to remove mirror cover, door lock knob, cover on inside door handle. Then hold on to arm rest lift door panel up gently and it will come off.Their are plastic hooks on the inside of door panel that hook onto the door so be careful because you can brake them off if you yank on the panel

Remove the door window regulator handle and then remove clip using a piece of cloth (Manual type only)
Remove the rear door inside handle housing.
Remove the mounting screws (3EA) from the trim fasteners and the door trim panel to pry off. Disconnect the connector.
Insert a trim panel remover between the trim fasteners and the door trim panel to pry off. Disconnect the connector.
