Re: What amp altanator does does 2.0 gas motor have?
It depends more on the electrical demands on your car i.e. electric windows etc than engine size but most modern cars have between an 90 and 130 amp alternator fitted, the ampage is usually written on the manufacturers sticker on the alternator also.

For 90% of cars that try but just can't start. Key off, Pump Gas Pedal 4 x, holding it to floor (all the way down) on 4th time, then just turn key. as soon as engine starts and revvs up, let go of the gas pedal! Seriously... Do not keep the pedal down!!! This is b/c engine is 'cold', the oil that lubricates your precious engine is very thick, and you don't want to add other problems (scarred pistons/cylinders/rings and oil burning or a severely overrevved engine (screaming) at no load (you are not in gear - no drag of car weight on motor) resulting in major engine damage.
Probably not. Current ratings for diesels are usually much higher, and it is rare that the mounting points on the alternators would match up, much less the pulley alignment. Even the electrical connectors are likely to vary.
First you NEVER remove a battery cable when the motor is
running or the key is on,unless you want to have problems
& there is no test requiring a battery cable to be removed
I suggest you replace a cable when necessary, never cut off
the ends & try to clamp some ends on,they did not come from
the assy plant like that, for a reason.
Jumping is not a good practice either & if the motor is running
& your referring to removing a jumper cable, then obviously you
need to diagnose the system for a failed battery & maybe a failed
alternator, keeping in mind the alternator has nothing to do with
starting any vehicle.
what engine ? what displacement?
USA? car?
it cranks robustly but will not start the engine.
the classic 100year test on gas engines is:
1: lost compression.
2:lost spark
3: lost fueling or flooded.
in that order. most folks skip #1 ,due to hope deal and no guage.
and then check spark got spark to all 6 or 8 spark plugs>
yes, good. some 94 have a distributor, is it loose>?
no, fix spark.
3: are spark plug tips dry, try test fuel , spray fuel.
3a: are spark pug tips soaking wet in fuel;?
yes, its flooded, (wideopen throttle, cranking) unfloods it.
keep in mind, flooding can happen on 1 cylinder only. MPI
or all.
sounds like you might have lost the altanator. Check the battary to see if it is very low, if so it was running of the battery and not the altanator. try charging the battery and see if it will run. If it does, checkthe voltage on the battery. it should be above 13 volts when runnig. If not it is the altanator.
if you have a 3 wire Alt :
you have to hot to the Bat.
than # 1 of the 2 pins goes to a switched hot (NOT to the Dist. the car wont turn off) this is what turns on the Alt. charging system
the #2 goes to the charging lamp on the dash
