Question about 2007 Dodge Ram Truck

1 Answer

Diagostic I had a diagostic test and no codes, but my idle is very low 700s when it's just sitting in park and it is low in each gear. I took it in and the car place said it is an intermitten problem, but never really investigated. The car place where I bought the car said that it's a small engine and a very under powered car which COULD be the problem, and that you can only change the idle speed now days by computer and that is very pricy. Any suggestions? Anyone with the same probs? if so what did you do?

Take it and check in some small shops. It cost me $20 to get one.

No heat coming from the vents.

If it is a manual system--sounds like coolant low ie: air bubble in system. If it is ATC system, Check Codes, if no failure codes, coolant may be low--air bubble in system--most Durango's have air bleeders in system.

Idle drops way down in drive gear in park it's fine or running the A/C

what car is this, could be normal or not depending, like my 73 nova dogs down when put in gear but its suppose to with a 3 speed turbo. if its a newer car its not. and would sudject checking transmission fluid/filter or even replace both. if your fuild is low or old the transmission wont slip as easy and will make you car work harder to idel while sitting still.

I just got done replacing the power steering motor on my 2003 GMC Seirra 1500, After I got done bleeding the lines i took it out for a test drive but everytime i put it in gear it idles down extremely low...

If you disconnected the battery, the computer needs to relearn the idle profile. This may take a bit of driving. Also, make sure the air intake piping is properly secured to the throttle body and Mass airflow sensor at the filter housing and not allowing the engine to **** in any false air past the MAF

I want to adjust the idle on a 2003 ford f150

The engine Idle is adjusted by the PCM (power control module) If your having idle problem, cleaned the throttle body real good (just to make sure there wasn't a problem there) then do a "IAC relearn" by unhooking the battery, letting it sit for about 5 minutes, then hooked battery back up, let it idle for 3 mins, put in gear and held it there for 3 mins, and then neutral for 3 mins, then back into park. Go for a test drive and this should fix the problem.

When its warmed up, in park or in gear, RPMs are about 600-650 at warm idle. At cold its about 850 or so, Good luck and thank you for using Fixya

Idled high, replace IAC and PCV, now idles low and stalls

May be a defective IAC, or bad connection, or improperly installed, as in lost little "O" ring when putting it on. I would also be looking at TP sensor, which I would have tested in the first place. Have you tried cycling your key to retrieve problem codes yourself? ( turn key to on,(not start) then off, then on, then off, then on again, and leave on, and count flashes of check engine light. It will flash quick, then pause, then flash again. For example: 3 flashes, pause, then 3 more is code 33. 2 flashes, pause, 5 more, is code 25. When you get 5, pause 5 more, that code 55, which means end of message. Write them down, and get back to us with what you have if any.

Idled high, replace IAC and PCV, now idles low and stalls

On modern day cars the parts that get fitted need to be adapted to the ECM using a decent diagnostic machine. I bet that this was not done and the car is now suffering as a result.
Something to try is resetting the ECU, simply disconnect battery for 10 minutes, reconnect, then start car from cold *without touching gas pedal* and leave idling until the rad fan comes on (this resets all the base idle settings) then take it for a drive - hopefully will solve the problem

Rough idle then stalls

Vacume leak or bad idle motor. With the car in park and running with the hood open listen for leaks moving your hand around the different hoses looking for a change in the sounds that you hear. The idel motor also makes the car idel up to 1500 RPM or so right at start-up then idel down, If it doesn;t the idel motor is likly. Check engine light is on when running? Test for codes, Follow code test charts don't skip any steps!.
