  • Turboedmav Nov 07, 2008

No power to fuel pump, decided to conect it directly ONLY temporarily via an extra relay just to make sure it was not a seized pump...it's pumping fine but now that I have fuel I found out there wasn't spark either so I figured it must be the ASD relay... damn it!! previous owner detached all the relays from their original position and now I have no way to tell them apart, course I can do a little tinkering around to find out but wouldn't it be nice to just look at the pictures you can find online to know which one is which one?

I'll continue with this tomorrow, will keep'ya posted, that damn thing doesn't work just yet...

Check your spark plugs that can always be a big problem. the injectors are probably not working so you'll need to get new ones. sorry but they're gonna be dear.

I need a gmc safari diagram for fuel pump 1991

I don't usually do diagrams due to copyright laws.
From the fuel pump you have a gray wire and a black wire.
The black is ground and the gray is power from both the pump relay and the oil pressure switch.
The oil pressure switch provides power to the pump once the engine starts.
At the relay, you have a green and white wire that provides power from the ECM with the key switch on. You have an orange wire that provides power from a 15amp fuse.
The gray wire going to the pump, and a black and white wire for ground for the relay.
The ECM provides power for 3 seconds when the key switch is turned on to boost line pressure for startup.

1991 Cutlass ceirra 3300 ,runs fine for short time. starts running rough, then dies/will not start again.changed fuel filter, then tested fuel pump.fuel pressure is good.what next ?

Check for spark when it won't start. If you have spark, might be your fuel pump relay, maybe the map sensor. If no spark, check another or all plug wires. If ignition isn't working, it could be Crankshaft Position sensor, Camshaft position sensor (or pick-up coil), ignition control module, coils, pcm, or the wiring associated with them. PCM determines spark timing after inputs from crank and can sensors, and sends ground signal to ignition module, cutting primary voltage to coils, initiating spark or high voltage from coil to sparkplug. All these parts have to be working right for ignition. All can be tested too. You'd need a digital volt ohm meter (DVOM) and a repair manual for your car with the test procedures. That Mitchell alldata-diy site has a special on subscriptions, pretty reasonable for a 1 month subscription, and excellent info and troubleshooting flow charts, wiring diagrams, etc.

1990 dodge shadow. I have no power at the fuse panel for the fuel pump. Everything else has voltage but fuel pump fuse. I'm stumped.

According to the wiring diagram from autozone, you should have a fuel pump relay with two power wires. One is from the key switch, the other is a fuseable link from the battery cable.
The key switch activates the relay and the circuit from the battery powers the pump.
Do you have voltage coming out of the pump relay ?

No power to fuel pump

First step, a simple step, check the fuse for the fuel pump and replace if needed. Step two, disconnect pigtail from fuel pump, turn ignition on to the pre-start position so that the instrument cluster is illuminated. Step three, determine with a volt meter if sufficient voltage is coming from the wires by connecting negative and positive to their respective polarities on the pigtail connector. If voltage is sufficient, then replace the fuel pump. If no voltage is present, trace the electrical line to its power source to make sure the wires are not cut or missing insulation. Repair as needed. If this does not help, take to your mechanic. Hopefully, this will FixYa problem!

The 1991 mr2 intermittently will not start. you

Sounds like you have a bad one-way check valve in the fuel pump. It is not serviced seperatly. A replacement fuel pump might be your answer.

Will not start. checked fuel pump fuse(no voltage) Want to know if fuel relay feeds voltage to fuel pump fuse? Is there a free wiring diagram available?

Hook a test light up to the positive connection at the fuel pump. Typically when you key on. a short (2 seconds) burst of power goes to the pump, then it turns off. Many designs then feed voltage during start, but OFF if the engine does not start, all of which is normal.

Intermittent fuel-flow problem

Been having the same problem. Ended up replacing the grey wire from the fuel pump relay to the fuel pump. The grey wire leaves the relay and then branches in two. One wire goes to the ECM to tell it the fuel pump has power. The other goes to the fuel pump.

Check for fuses/power/ground to the engine computer (or injector drive computer) whatever the case is.

Spark, fuel pump, and starter all are independant of the fuel injection computer.

Either the computer itself has gone bad, or it is not receiving power or ground, or wiring to the injectors might be bad...
