Open Question

Fitting magnex exhaust, extra bracket???

I have recently fitted a magnex exhaust cat back to my clio 172 cup it fits well but sits very low below the bumper??? i have another bracket however which i got with the exhaust,which will attach somewhere and pull the exhaust back up snug into the bumper, but i dont know where it fixes onto???i dont have any instructions as the exhaust was second hand, could u tell me where the bracket attatches to??? thanks

change the control switch ,but newer models use a module and it could be this module playing up it controls the a/c and heating .if its the module then iam sure its dealer only as its a renault and no doubt will require reprogramming

got a idear for you , if you pop down to you nearest breakers most vauxhall and vw hav a short aeril on the called a bee sting aerial the simply unscrew the same as how the wip part of yor one . they should be the same thread and they look cool when changed. hope this helps

What you are hearing is the power steering belt slipping Screeching noise? Retighten all the front belts They will have "settled in" a bit after being refitted after cam job

Replaced my cat on neon ...still makes loud sound from that area in cabin. Mechanic feels it was a the cheap after market unit I purchased. Motor mounts were replaced but this sound is like a loud .


probably not the cat at all but a cracked flexible section in the exhaust pipe before the cat or a crack at the flange at the exhaust manifold
cats work regardless of the price and do not make noise either if fitted correctly
Pass on the mechanic and go to an accredited muffler/ exhaust fitting shop and get a diagnosis and a quote

Where are the o2 sensors


O2 sensors are fitted at the exhaust end of the cat converter
The HO2S sensors are fitted between the exhaust manifold and the cat converter. Each has a definite operation and cannot be mixed up.

HI, should be in screwed into the front part of the exhaust pipe, jack the car up and you will see it etc.

Loud rattleing from exaust


Rattling from exhaust indicates a failure or parts. Check that the cat converter is in one piece and not collapsed . Check mufflers for holes where the baffles inside are spot welded indicating loose baffles. Check for loose /rusted mounting brackets. Check for broken pipes and manifold fittings.

05 caravan is it a p4044 code


the code p 4044 refers to exhaust gas recirculation range /performance--reading above or below the specified range
could be a problem valve or solenoid or wiring
the remark about the cat converter is valid as it indicates that when under load the cat converter is blocking the exhaust
this occurs when the honeycomb internals cracks and the bits block the exhaust exit under high gas flows ( from your use description)
you can get replacement cat converters that use flange fittings and they are therefore cheaper when needing replacing
cat converters crack when running hot and are then immersed in extreme cold ( snow , running ice water)when driving

P0420


P0420 indicates that the catalytic converter efficiency is low. The usual fix is to replace the catalytic converter. If the exhaust is not leaking and there are no codes for the rear O2 sensor you'll more than likely need to replace the cat to get the code to go away.

O.E. cats as well as direct fit aftermarket cats from reputable manufactures are the best route. After market universal fit cats are not worth the headache and usually cause more problems.

How do you remove the Power Steering Pump and bracket. I have taken off several bolts but it still is not letting loose. Help


3.0L (VIN 3) Engine

Power steering pump mounting detail (3.0L engine)

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. The belt does not have to be removed from the engine.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Disconnect the wiring harness connector to the oxygen sensor which is accessible through the oxygen sensor wiring harness grommet in the vehicle floor pan.
  5. Remove the catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold and remove all exhaust system hangers and isolators from the exhaust system brackets. Move exhaust system out of the way as far rearward and to the left as possible to provide access to the power steering pump.
  6. Place a drain pan under the power steering pump. Remove the power steering fluid return line hose on the front suspension cradle. Allow the fluid to drain from the pump and hose.
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt splash shield.
  8. Disconnect the power steering remote reservoir supply hose from the fitting on the power steering pump. Allow fluid to drain from the hose.
  9. Remove power steering fluid pressure line from the power steering pump and drain any excess power steering fluid.
  10. Remove the power steering fluid return hose from the power steering pump.
  11. Remove the rear support bracket mounted behind the power steering pump to the engine block.
  12. Remove the 2 mounting bolts that secure the pump to the alternator/power steering pump and belt tensioner mounting bracket.
  13. Remove the power steering pump and pulley assembly out from the vehicle. Transfer all required parts from the pump to the new replacement pump before installation.
To install:
  1. Position the front of the power steering pump up onto the mounting bracket. Torque the 2 power steering pump-to-mounting bracket bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  2. Install the rear power steering pump-to-engine block support bracket. Torque the 2 support bracket mounting bolts to 40ft. lbs. (54 Nm). Install the nut to the mounting stud behind the pump and torque to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  3. Install the high pressure fluid line to the pump output fitting. Torque the high pressure line-to-power steering pump fitting to 275 inch lbs. (31 Nm). Be sure to inspect the pressure line O-ring for any damage before connecting the pressure line to the steering pump.
  4. Install the low pressure power steering fluid hose to the power steering pump low pressure fitting. Be sure the hose clamps are properly reinstalled and hoses are clear of the accessory drive belts.
  5. Install the accessory drive belt.
  6. Install the hose on the power steering fluid return line on the front suspension cradle. Be sure the hose clamps and heat shield tubes are correctly reinstalled.
  7. Reconnect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. Install the hangers and isolators onto the exhaust system brackets. torque the nuts and bolts to 250 inch lbs. (28 Nm).
  8. Reconnect the wiring harness connectors to the oxygen sensor. Install the wiring harness grommet into the vehicle floor pan.
  9. Install the accessory drive belt splash shield.
  10. Remove the drain pan and lower the vehicle.
  11. Refill the power steering pump reservoir with the correct amount of clean power steering fluid.
  12. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Bleed the power steering system.
  13. Run the engine and check the system for leaks and proper steering operation.

3.3L (VIN R) & 3.8L (VIN L) Engines

  12. Remove the 3 mounting bolts that secure the pump to the alternator/power steering pump and belt tensioner mounting bracket.

if you go to an after market exhaust shop they have many cats all they need to do is measure up and there you go good luck

Renault Clio sport R Reg - leaking manual sunroof


word_answers.gif Betta Windsrceens Stockport have been repairing sunroofs for 30 years. What i will tell you is both the mk1 and mk2 clios have a problem with the sunroofs.
The sunroof needs to be taken out cleaned damming seal on frame removed and fitted back with silicone sealer excess sealer clean of with white sprite no need to remove head lineing if fitted with 10 mm bolts use a ratchet spanner. Mk1 clios also leak from the arial remove and reseal. And mk1 & mk2 have a problem with the bulk head filling up with water. Open bonnet on the back of the bulk head is a hose about 6 inches long which gets blocked un block and the water can drain like it did the day the car left the factory. bettabob
