Sounds like a faulty airflow meter. When there is a fault with the AFM it goes in what you call "limp mode" which enables you to get home without damaging your engine. If you know some one with a similar or same car try their AFM to check before you buy one.Hope this helps.

Under 2000 rpms runs bad/hesitates/check engine light

This IAC valve runs only when your foot is off the gas pedal. Mainly to keep the engine from stalling and keeping it at a safe RPM. If it is running bad under 2000RPM, more than likely its the IAC valve or a vacuum leak. Clean or replace the IAC valve....Hopefully this helps!!

Engine runs fast on start up (2000)rpm. when temp rises the engine hunts down and up from 2000rpm. no tick over

This is normal sometimes when it is cold. However, you should let the engine to run for ~ 2 minutes before you drive away...it will dissappear.

Engine miss above 2000 rpm

sounds like a valve problem. check compression running and non-running. valve sealing at higher rpm is usually a valve spring problem is if runs ok at idle.
