Third time's a charm. Would have told you to check the resistor first. Doh!
If it's any consolation, a bad switch is usually what makes the resistor go bad, but your old motor is probably just fine--sell it on e-bay!
Now, if I could only tell you where to find the resistor. Somewhere along the heater box between the switch and the motor. The resistors actually hang inside the box for cooling. It looks like the pick below with wires coming out. Some wires go to the motor, some to the switch.
Find it, take connector off, take 2 screws out. Pull it out of the heater box. See, it's all burned up.
Pay autozone $50 for a new one and get back to your life.

The heaters only work when on setting 4 and i found out its due to a faulty blower resistor, where is the resistor located and how do you replace it on a Ford Focus 51 plate

In the dash, attached to the blower motor (follow the nosie of the blower when turned on... this will help you locate)
The resistor is a 4" long Green Ceramic part with pins coming off it.

Heater fan only works on fastest speed

Your blower motor resistor has gone bad, it should be located next to your blower motor in the car, held in place with a couple of screws, remove it and replace it. The resistor is responsible for making the blower motor run at slower speeds than high or (4). Let me know if this helps.

Car heater

i think you have a short in your blower motor. the resistor block which reduces also your speed could have damage also from the short of your blower.

tnx 4 using fixya,
