Question about 1983 Cadillac DeVille
I am disabled on limited budget but also was ASE master tech certified. My 82 cad deville melted the ecm . No check engine light and only code 52. I can find no " visible " harness failures and would like to have at least a little better idea of pin outs before installing a 100.00 ecm and repeating failure. any ideas or sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

if a new ECM had blown shortly after replacement, the problem is likely to be in power wiring to ECM.
Check all battery wiring to the BCM/ECM for bad connections and shorts, (shorts, corrosion etc.), and test all voltages to ecm.
Check for short to ground in ckt491 (Orange wire), check for Open or Short to Ground in ckt 526 (Brown wire).

The coil will be underneath the distributor cap you have to rmove the rotor to get to it and make sure you number your spark plug wires before you remove them...............

The coolant sensor is on the front of the engine next to the thermostat housing where the upper radiator hose meets the engine.
The manifold pressure sensor (MAP) is on the firewall and looks like the picture below.
The ECM is in the right pillar to the right of the passenger's feet.
Please let me know if you have more questions.
See pictures below.

Limited range of throttle movement
Your going to need to take this to a ASE certified repair shop or the dealer , you probably don't have the diagnostic tools to trouble shoot this problem.
