While going down the road truck died. fuel pump is running. spark plugs are firing. throttle valve opens and closes with accelerator or by hand. but will not fire getting fuel to carburator but still want fire

First you must determine if the fuel is stopping or the spark is stopping..If the fuel is stopping this could be a computer problem.. If the spark is stopping then it could be the IGN Module in the distributer. or any nomber of sensors. Squirt a little fuel directly into the Throttle body on the intake manifold.. If the truck runs longer its probably loss of fuel.. Do this several times to make sure, be careful and only use a small amounty of fuel.. you do not want a fire.. RE: Spark: Take a plug wire and an old plug..put the wire on the plug.. hold the plug against a good ground .. have someone crank the engine .. does the plug stop firing? The engine dies.. and will not restart for a minuet or so.. during this "no start" time do the plug test. If the plug will not fire during this time take the module out and take it to Orillys Auto parts.. They can test it.. really expensive part. Don't replace until you know it is BAD..
change your fuel filter ..your vehicle will run but your fuel pressure is weak ..also after this clean your fuel injectors by pouring injection cleaner in your gas ,,it will correct itself..Also ,,if none of what I stated works ,,Spark plugs and new spark plug wires needed ,,Lastly your fuel pump
Could be a relay or other electrical issue. You say it has fuel pressure and spark, if that were true it should run. So it either does not have enough spark to fire the plugs under compression, or not enough fuel pressure going thru the injectors, or not at the right time. You might want to check for trouble codes in the computer. There has to be something missing from the equation when it won't start. You may have to check all of the plugs for fire and try some carb cleaner sprayed into the intake to boost fuel supply to find the issue.
Spray some ether into the throttle body or air intake and see if it is fuel related...If it wants to run at this point, something is not allowing the fuel to be delievered. At this point you will a least know in what direction to be looking.
Do you have spark? Put one of the old plugs in a spark plug wire and crank her over. Make sure the plug is grounded. Any spark? Most likely the ignition module. Next would be the crank sensor.......or dist pickup.
Yes to spark? Put a little gas down the throttle body.......and see if it starts on that.
Yes to a start then dies out? No fuel. Most likely the fuel pump in the tank. Turn the key off for at least 10 seconds. Have someone listen closely at the tank........now turn the key only to run position....you should hear a prime cycle whirrrrr for about 1 or 2 seconds. No noise? means....no working pump. Check all fuses........but it will most likely be first....fuel pump.....second....fuel pump relay....third....no power to the fuel system. Yes to whirrrr.........then it's ......no fuel injectors are opening if you have fuel injection.
Sounds like a large vacuum leak, low fuel pressure, fuel pressure regulator failure, idle air control valve stuck open, plugged fuel filter. Also check for good consistent blue spark at spark plugs or jumped timing chain.Hope this helps!
