Question about 2003 Nissan Sentra

Bad gas mileage in last year

2.5 2003 sentra...my gas mileage is down to 20mpg hwy if I am lucky.  I have had multiple mechanics look at it and no one can figure it out!  I want to fix it and stop wasting money with diagnostics!  I had replaced the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors already.  Any ideas??  I just want the decent gas mileage everyone talks about.  Some just tell me it's an old card??Old?? I didn't think 5 years was old.  It has about 85000 miles on it.

Already done tune up, diagnostics, new injectors, plugs and wires, no leaks, no bad gaskets, oxygen sensor already changed along with fuel regulator and other sensors. Car has always been very well maintained. Nothing works.

Really bad gas mileage

I would check your tires. Make sure that they are properly inflated. This could be a problem if it is colder outside.

I have a 2000 lsi sedan 4cyl runs excellent good compression mileage has got considerably worse down to 22 hwy any ideas

*Oil change.
*Accurate tire pressure. (highway drivers experience better MPG with tire pressure 2-3 pounds higher than whats called for on tires)
*Tune up/spark plugs
*Injectors clearer/replacement. STP injector cleaner
Bad fuel/low grade/gas supplier might be bad. Try new gas station

I have been logging my gas mileage on my Jeep Grand Cherokee for the last 9 years. My jeep has a Straight 6 cylinder motor, that has given me about 17mpg city and 23 mpg highway. This last summer my jeep...

I would start by pulling a spark plug and looking at condition. With that kind of mileage, has it ever had a valve job? Valve's burn and valve springs get weak, could have a carbon problem. Also compare the brands of fuel you're using, many have changed their formulas - I've noticed it with my own cars. Also have your mechanic do a compression test.

2007 kia rondo seems to use alot of gas

I have the same issue of low gas mileage. My 2008 Kia Rondo with V6 (2.7Lt) gets 20-21 mpg in average. Even for highway mileage, it is around 21-22mpg. Very poor gas mileage. Disappointed. I hope it would improve in the future.

Yes, GENTLY break the motor in to about 1k miles after that, change the oil/filters and you will slowly see an increase in your mpg. I had the same problem with mine. Now has 60k on new motor and I get a consistent 20mpg on the hwy. City mileage is about 12.

My 2003 Nissan Sentra is getting terrible mileage

Two possible problems

1 - O2 Sensor

2 - Mass air flow sensor(Most common problem on Sentra's)

Spend a 100 buck and have a nissan dealer check it out for you as they would have the tools to check the sensors correctly
