Question about 2003 Mazda MPV
The key to the van gets stuck in the ignition. When you go to turn off the van it gets stuck in Acc. You have to un hook the battery to get the key out. Can some one tell me what is wrong?
Try replacing the ignition switch.

Pulling the Hazard fuse accomplishes the same thing. The problem is probably a failed microswitch on the gear change lever. The lock solenoid has power on when not in park. Take the power from the solenoid and the lock disengages and allow the key to be removed.

SOURCE: Key gets stuck in ignition
My wife's 98 Pontiac Grand Prix has the same problem. There is a manual
key release under the steering column. You need to stick something thin
like a pen up into the hole to release it. There are two possible
problems one is the contacts on the shifter that checks to see if your
in park and the other is the ignition cylinder is worn out.
If it is the contacts on your shifter, I would take your center console apart and clean the contacts on the park switch.
If it is the ignition cylinder you could try replacing it, but you need to re-key the new ignition cylinder. Therefore I recommend going to the dealer for this one.
