Sonata starting problem

My 2005 sonata has a peculiar problem. it doesn't start after running for a while(say for an hour) but not every time, once in week sometimes once in a month. it cranks but will not start it starts when i remove battery connections for minute or 2 and reconnect . can anyone help me.
hyundai mechanics (here in india) tried all they knew still couldn't slove the problem.
My 2001 Hyundai XG300 won't start when it gets hot outside. (when the ambient temperature is approx. 75 degrees f.
I have now spent over 1000 dollard cdn on parts and labour for a crank case sensor and and a egr valve, but it still won't start!!!
I have also tried disconnecting the battery leads, I had the fuel distribution system tested. The engine light was on for both parts that were replaced, but now it is off. Can you please help!!!!

I had the same problem. Check coolant tenperature sensor. It gives cold signal to engin, even hot temperature and pump up too much gas. When you open the engin hood, it is located at right side. Just follow the radiator hose about 50cm and you can find small yellow metal bolt like.
It cost you $45 CD at dealer, but on internet market you can get under $20. Very easy to change. Put some sealant to avoid leaking coolant. Good luck!

Could be a bad cable connection. clean the battery terminals and the clamps on the battery cables. if it continues to do it, check for a bad ground cable from the battery.

Hello there , I'm not sure about Sonatas , if you have changed your battery or disconnected it , some vehicles like Fords around the 2000 year mark need to be calibrated , this may be achieved by turning your ignition on putting your tran in drive with your foot flat on the peddle and hold for 3 minutes and then turn ignition off and then back on with the car in park and no peddle , do not start car to do this just ignition on ! Good luck all so it may be cheaper to buy a work shop manual rather than taking your car to a work. Shop , best is - Haynes Work Shop Manual - Regards Graham ...

Hard start and I think it may be the timing belt

if it was the timing belt it would have crunched the valves by now ,i do feel you have a sensor problem?? but which one i honestly couldnt tell you.valves tapping is caused by not changing the oil regular and they clag up and do not self adjust,so change oil every 6000miles ,try taking it to the main agent because a dealer fitter will understand their own particular make of vehicle better than myself when it comes to sensors and peculiarities of the model

My 2005 sonata starts after trying several times. It just turns over like a car out of gas, then usually on the third time it will start.

Sounds like its either fuel or ignition. Have someone turn the car over while you sniff the exhaust.
If it smells of raw unburnt gas , fuel is not the issue , your problem is most likely ingition. Car might run rough at first when it does start , due to being slightly flooded.
If no gas smell probably a fuel problem. Possible low fuel pressure , or no fuel injection.
