I've been having the same problem for the last two days, but the "door ajar" indicator is not lighted, which was the first thing I checked. If the problem is indeed with the GEM module (whatever that is) or a door latch sticking as posted, shouldn't the "door ajar" light come on to indicate the problem? Not knowing what the problem is makes me quite nervous to drive my vehicle - I don't want to make whatever the problem is worse.

I have the same problem. My girlfriend took it to some place when the truck was hers and they said it had something to do with the air-bags. They did something and it stopped, but a few months ago my friend was kicking my front bumper and it started again. So now i'm lost.

You need to quick test the GEM module, you may have a door latch mounted door ajar switch sticking, very common problem on explorers.

7 beeps at startup on a 2000 Ford Explorer

Sounds like your anti-theft immobilizer has kicked in. As long as you have the original lock, and key fob with immobilizer chip, the standard way to re-pair the key and lock is to remove the battery leads for 30 minutes and reconnect.

You are better reading Codes with a code reader which will give you an accurate display with a numerical code.

There are a few clues here.

7 dings and a beep when starting 2000 ford explorer? what does that mean

NOTE: The generic electronic module/central timer module (GEM/CTM) is connected to the ISO link and is diagnosed through the data link connector (DLC) with a scan tool.
There are five warning chimes and lamps the GEM/CTM controls: headlamps operating without the ignition on (chime only), door ajar (chime and lamp), key-in-ignition (chime only), driver seat belt warning (chime and lamp), and message center.

Audible Warnings Warning Condition Lamp Duration Audible Duration Audible Output Safety Belt 60 Seconds 6 Seconds Chime, 60/Min. 740 Hz Key In Ignition - Continuous Chime, 120/Min. 740 Hz Headlamps On - Continuous Chime, 240/Min. 740 Hz Door Ajar Continuous 1 Second Single Tone, 1000 Hz Message Center (Tone Request) - 1 Second Single Tone, 1000 Hz
When the is turned to RUN or START from OFF or ACC, the chime will sound for six seconds or until the safety belt is buckled.
The will turn on for 60 seconds or until the driver safety belt is fastened. Both the chime and the lamp turn on at the same time.
If the safety belt is buckled before the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START, from OFF or ACC, neither the chime nor lamp will be activated.
Anytime the is changed to RUN from START while the safety belt warning indicator is activated, the safety belt warning indicator will remain activated until either the timing sequence has been executed or the safety belt is buckled.
When at least one door is ajar and the key is in the RUN position, the door ajar cluster lamp is activated and remains on until all doors are closed. A warning tone will sound once any time the key is in the ignition switch and any door is open.
The key-in-ignition warning will sound when the driver side is opened with the key in the and the in OFF or ACC. It will continue to sound until the key is removed, the is closed, or the is in RUN or START.
The headlamp-on reminder chime will be activated if the headlamps or parking lamps are on, the key is not in the ignition switch, and the driver door is opened.
A single tone will be provided each time a ground signal is received from the message center. A one-second tone will sound for warning indications from the message center. A 100 milli-second tone will sound for each message center button depressed.

1. Close the vehicle doors.
2. Turn OFF the ignition.
3. Remove the key from the ignition.

7. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder. (Do not turn the ignition key in the lock cylinder.) Leave the ignition key in the ignition lock cylinder.
8. Release the door lock switch. The vehicle will sound three beeps in order to verify the Program Mode has been activated.
9. Press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons together on the keyless entry transmitter and hold until the vehicle beeps twice to verify that the transmitter has been successfully programmed (this take approximately 15 seconds).

When i am driving my suzuki ignis (1.3,manual,2001)in a traffic(more than 45 mins)engine starts to miss(check light indicates) and it stops.cant start it for about 10-15 mins

I have a 2001 Suzuki Ignis and I have a similar problem. When I start the engine 5 beeps are heard and the hazard lights turn off and on with each beep. Also after I have been driving for about 45 mins 3 beeps are heard and the hazard lights turn off and on again. However my engine does not stop running. I have asked people about it and they think that it has something to do with a lose wire in the security system? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2002 ford explorer open door beep goes on and off more so in the winter. what wire can I cut to stop the beeping?

The door sensors are "crush" style, and over time the switch compresses too far, Buy new switch(es) and replace, Pulling old one will be extreme short term repair.

2002 pontiac grand prix - power door locks

I do believe the 3 beeps are telling you that you are about to lock your doors. Additonally that should signal you that have your keys in hand before you locks your keys inside the car. It's just an aural warning reminder that your doors are about to be locked.

Beeps while driving

My van did this aswell, you must have a power sliding door, when it is not latched properly this warning goes off but it won't say on your message center "door ajar". Stop and reopen the door and close it again no more bell. good luck.

I hear 5 warning beeps then a pause then 5 beeps again

Get the battery situated, and your beeps should go away. Sounds like an errant security horn from a sloppy connection. Interested to see what happens. TT
