There should be an air vent coming from the top of the gas tank back to the top of the fuel tank. Possibly kinked or pinched, try pulling the fuel nozzle about half way out and filling the tank on the lowest setting the fuel pump will let you.

Just got the car from parents this summer. Dad took the car back to dealer multiple times when car was new to get the thing "fixed" but they couldn't find a problem to fix. I have tried adjusting the fuel nozzle all possible ways. I usually have to hold the handle

Gas pump shuts off early when fueling 2004 Dodge Ram 5.7 SLT Pickup.

My work truck does this as well. Pulling out the nozzle doesnt work either. I know it sounds wierd, but try turning the nozzle sideways or upside down when filling the tank. Works well with my work truck.....

Every few cents the gas pump clicks, no fuel gauge

Could be the fuel tank breather is blocked.
Lots of fuel tanks are wide and slim these days and formed to fit the body profile so they have one or more humps that are higher than the filler pipe entry. It would be quite impossible to fill such a fuel tank if the top of the hump(s) weren't vented.

Because the fuel tank these days must be a closed container except when filling, such vent pipes would be connected to a branch of the filler pipe above the maximum fuel level to ensure the tank can be filled and to minimise blowback during filling.

My 2003 Toyota Tacoma extended cab has a gas tank filling problem. I can only squeeze the gas nozzle with the tip as high on the filler tube as possible to put in about 1/4 gallon of gas per squeeze of...

Many vehicles have a rubber hose between the filler tube on the body and the gas tank. Check that it's not collapsed or that something maybe got in there and squeezed it partially shut. The rubber tube may need replaced. Please rate this answer, thanks.

Cannot fill gas tank on 2002 Kia sedona. Even when you only pump 1 gallon, the pump clicks off like it is full. We have taken off the hoses but did not see any blockage.

I have a Kia Sedona 2005 and I can't fill it up with gas without the pump kicking off and I have tried several gas stations. Sometimes I can get a few gallons in with no problem but then it kicks off again and I have to spend twenty minutes dripping fuel into it until I loose patience. Help me!

2006 Ford Escape spews gas from fill pipe during very cold weathe

The little air holes above the gas tank hole don't work very well on these. I've noticed it too. Just hold the pump at a little bit of an angle when this happens which will allow more air to escape your tank.

My 1996 BMW Z3 will not let me put gas in it at a normal speed. I have to put it in very slowly! Any idea what's wrong?? Thanks, Robin

Well something is blocking it... Some vehicles have a plastic ball in the pipe between the cap and main tank, the purpose for this is to block anyone trying to siphon gas out of your tank, but still let gas seep past downward. These become more common as gas prices raise. I'd lay odds your car has one and it's stuck somehow. Then again you never know if some kid came by and stuck a sock in there or something. Try taking an opened up coat hanger or something to the like and probe down the pipe. Maybe you can un-lodge the ball. If you feel something soft, there is something wrong!

1995 Saab 900 Won't Take A Fill Up

Sorry if this gets posted twice. I have a 95 Saab 900, which I just acquired. I can get only about 4 or 5 gallons in at a time. The best analysis I found was this one where the man pinpoints a stuck valve in the gas tank, and tells of what he did to address it.: http://www.quasimotors.com/9_5_gas_fill_prob.htm

Unable to pump gas

This problem is caused by the fuel tank vent pipe being restricted, usually it is kinked, replace the filler pipe vent.
